( @danteinfcrno. )
She had long thought that this job didn’t demand much from her. There was usually nothing much to do except for administering to the students’ behavioural conduct, their dorm allocations, etc. But boy was she wrong about that thought that day.
It was in the middle of the night, and some troublemakers had decided to get up and about. She had been awakened by a shrill cry for help from outside. The cry was immediately muffled and the idea of someone struggling and being suffocated immediately alarmed her. Whatever was happening was certainly not some kind of petty prank that some students have decided to pull that night.
And here she was, knocking on one of the teachers’ doors upon the advice of the resident nurse. After finding one of their boys beaten almost to a pulp outside the dormitory buildings, Josie had rushed him to the first aid room to be immediately attended to. The boy couldn’t speak, clearly restrained by the agonising physical pain and his trauma from what he had just experienced. Not willing to let the perpetrators get away so easily after what they have done, Josie had been advised to “go seek the English teacher”.
It was too early in the day, the sun hasn’t even risen yet, but propriety and basic courtesy were not going to stop her from knocking incessantly on the door. Desperate to seek whatever kind of help she could get to track down those culprits. “Hey, c’mon - wake up!”
