'Bio Kid Peter, meeting small business owner, Pepper, and deciding she and his dad should be friends' WIP Snippet 2/3
An idea struck, sending a jolt of excitement up Peter’s spine. He was good at puzzles. He had been since he was a little kid. He’d been taking things apart and putting them back together for as long as he could remember. According to his dad, there was a time when he snuck a screwdriver out of the lab, dismantled a holographic display model, and after being caught red-handed, calmly reassembled it piece by piece. He barely remembered the incident. He’d been four at the time. But his obsession with figuring out how things worked by breaking them down, part by part, never went away. Nothing made him happier than finding old tech laying around, then taking it home to try and fix it. But as good as Peter was at all of those kinds of things. His dad was even better- faster, sharper, and endlessly inventive… And that’s when it hit him. There was a chance that the disassembled shelf was the exact thing he needed to lure his dad into the shop. “I think I could put this together for you, but, honestly, my dad could probably do it way better.” Ned shot him a look of pure confusion. Peter pressed his lips together and lifted his brows- a silent message that he hoped said something along the lines of ‘shut up, I know what I’m doing.’ He set the box down and shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’d have to ask him to borrow the tools anyway. Maybe he could come with me?”
