The Divided Circle – Ever Closer
Dream pop seemed to have had its day shortly after White Lies disappeared into the abyss, but The Divided Circle are making a go at reinventing the genre.
The Bristol duo embody haunting 80s post-punk sounds with gloomy baritone vocals, pioneered by the likes of Joy Division and Bauhaus.
Loud, driving electric drums carry the song along with help of a deep synth bass line, with a higher-pitched minor key synth melody really sealing the gloomy deal.
