ever the persistent [open f2f]
The protest surrounding Sciron has started to dwindle in numbers, but the slightly-less-chilly weather that week had Marley feeling less down about it. The core of their group was still there, and Elliott was ever steady in keeping their motivation up. So even if there were progressively more lamps lighting up the windows of their dorm building, she had hopes that their persistence was at the very least annoying the NYADA staff enough to consider cooperating with them for a change.
Her glamour potions long forgotten in her own dorm room, she bundled up in her true form with a coat and hat, her camera hanging from the strap around her neck as she stepped out of her and Dani’s tent. It was overcast, but she had just enough natural lighting to make her photos work. She started down the line, warming up her hands as she scoped out the afternoon crowd setting up for lunch. Catching a particularly good stream of light spilling through the crowds on a clustered group of tents and protesters, she grabbed her camera to focus the frame, then started snapping pictures. She hadn’t been to classes in... Aether, over a month? Her grades were probably in the tank by now (cue her inner cringing). But at least Professor Shutter had been gracious enough to strike up a deal to make up for her absences from Advanced Photography - a portfolio project centered around the collar protest, an endeavor she gladly took on.
The photos weren’t the prettiest, sure. There was no makeup or special lighting, no multi-person crew to help stage or edit. It wasn’t a studio shoot, after all. And there was little smiling involved when people were hungry and cold and losing faith, but what she captured was real. What she captured was history. And she wasn’t going to let NYADA or anyone else have the chance to forget about it for even a second.
Pulling back her camera to scroll through the material she had so far, she continued her way around the perimeter of the building, pausing every so often to check on people. “Are you warm enough?” she asked the next person she crossed paths with. “Have you gotten something to eat yet today?”
