memories (bad bad horrendous bad)
"VEGA" (Soundtrack Version) composed by Bill Brown from Dominion Season 2
The more I think about it the more I’m sure this show was deeply underrated. I miss it and its amazing soundtrack quite a lot actually and still wish for a miraculous save from Netflix or whoever.

The sound of the piano could be heard if one decided to press their ear against the door that lead into the music room. Kirigiri decided it was best to revisit a certain fond memory, playing the piano lightly. As a child, her mother taught her how to play the piano. Aside from the fact her detective life got busy, there were times she would revisit this very instrument and play some small melodies.
Little did she know that a certain gambler was around, but regardless, a soft smile was left on her lips. How romantic and cliche, wouldn't you say?

Everlasting Memories | Kim Cano
It is 6:54 a.m. and I have now been awake for just over 23 hours and have no plans to get rest before returning to a normal and fully packed day here that begins in just a few hours.
I just returned from seeing a close friend board an international flight headed to a final destination of Sri Lanka. But there is so much more than that. This is someone I have only known just six short months but it feels like an eternity.
Kim Cano has one of those incredibly friendly natural personalities. I had the opportunity to meet her on a trip with our college ministry at Northland. Our first bonding experience: crawling through mud and grass in order to capture a flag. While it seems dumb looking back, it truly built a strong foundation in our friendship.
Thinking about how far we've come is incredible. But it isn't just about us - see, Kim is sitting on an airplane as I type this in preparation and anticipation of arriving to work with children rescued out of sex trafficking. She's taking an enormous and daring bold step as she leans in to give God her everything at this very moment. She's fighting tears of sadness that she is leaving her comforts and securities but celebrating with tears of joy for this truly once in a lifetime opportunity to serve children of our Father.
I'm humbled by her willingness- I left Central Indiana in the fall of 2010 to give it all to God and was once again left in the same situation moving to Central Florida last summer. It was a big leap for me but I still feel very secure. I have no fear that I will have a nice place to lay my head at night, healthcare regardless if I can pay for it right now or not, a solid internet connection pretty much wherever I am, technology that seems to run everything I can think of and of course my deep fried foods and ice cream (throw in Starbucks as well- currently being the only thing powering my brain to write this post). Not only am I humbled by her willingness I am encouraged and almost moved to just want to do more because of her attentive seeking after God's heart to get her to take up this opportunity.
It really isn't every day you have a friend that you have to say good bye to for a year (or at the least at the minimum- the next nine months). It's a hard step but I know that with Kim's perseverance and determination there is nothing that is going to hold her back from guiding and shepherding, as well as comforting, these children who have already led lives so much more complex than anything I can personally wrap my head around. It's a ministry field I would love to serve in but I clearly have not been called to serve in that situation but that doesn't mean there isn't nothing I can do right here right now.
I had the coolest moment in the car with Kim and three others as we headed to the airport. When we got into the car somewhere around 3:30 a.m. the radio was fairly soft but "How Great is Our God" had just come on and in unison we all sang just ever so softly. It was as if we all realized this truth but we didn't need to shout it out but instead we found comfort in these lyrics. I'm not sure what the other four were thinking in that moment but all I could think of was how truly great our God is for opportunities like these. It hurts to leave people and to get over that hump of being somewhere knew but it is so evident that the work Kim is heading to do is detrimental not only in the lives of these children but for Kim's heart and for the reality of that nation.
