Watch Saffron Olive pilot the latest jank in the form of this fun graveyard-enchantress -ish style deck built around Evershrike – a bizarre creature that demands the deck be built entirely around it.

Basically, it tosses lots of things into the graveyard (Dredge style) then Evershrike comes back out at a discount price + a couple powerful enchantments and you swing for the win!

I’m totally moved, which is awesome. Ana and I have been getting along really well and it makes me super happy because living with someone and then having them be your friend is awesome.

Been super lazy today, like I said yesterday, I’ve playtested some magic. Did that with andytheguitarist last night and a little bit today. We both made dumb Evershrike decks because we suck at this stupid game.

Decided I felt like going out to dinner, so Nick and I are doing just that. We do a lot of these little friend dates, and while I like it, I kinda wish I had someone romantic to do this with that didn’t live super far from me. 

F is getting laid like crazy from what I can infer and I’m pretty damn envious. I wanna be getting laid, but I guess I’m, like, more romantic now? I really don’t want a hookup so much as a girlfriend. Like, is a girlfriend who lives in the same damn city as me (and it’s not like Ann Arbor is a tiny town or anything) so hard to ask for? I suppose I could always move to Montreal and be in lesbians with Kate (well, I already am in lesbians with Kate, but, like, IRL lesbians) but I JUST moved and even thinking about doing it again makes me wanna cry.

I’m just gonna enjoy dinner.

Topi’s Daily Card #241:  Evershrike

Given the recent block of Theros, you’d expect to see Evershrike in more EDH and causal decks, but unfortunately it’s not exactly compatible with the bestow creatures, leaving things a little more limited in that regard.  Either way, Evershrike is a fantastic card to put in an aura deck if you’re supporting those colors, or even just running this card with Fallen Ideal and it’s ilk, any other aura that returns to your hand when it dies is a solid choice for a annoyingly recurrable card for about 3-6 mana every time.  My reccomendations for colors would probably either Mardu, Abzan as it gives you access to Rancor, or just plain old Orzhov for the easiest casting.  If you like your decks a little aura heavy, consider an Evershrike, so your auras get more bang for their buck as a psuedo recursion spell.
