Everybody Needs Luck - Far Future (possible) Interlude

This is way into the future in the fic, and therefore absolutely packed with spoilers for it, but I had fun writing it and thought I’d share.

Disclaimer: The fic may not actually get to this point, I don’t have it written nearly this far out and have a few options for where I want certain plots to go, but this is a piece of one of those optional paths.

Jango Fett POV with (one-sided) Jango/Obi-Wan

Jango could remember the first time he saw Obi-Wan and thought he’s beautiful. And thought I want him.

They hadn’t seen each other in over a year, Jango busy on Mandalore consolidating power and Obi-Wan on Coruscant playing Senator. And then, with barely enough warning for him to mentally prepare, there was Obi-Wan on Manda’yaim as one of the representatives from the Republic.

That wasn’t the exact moment, though he’d noticed how Obi-Wan’s hair caught the sunlight, how he moved with the grace of a dancer next to the clodding older Senators around him, with the will of a fighter.

No, it was the attack that did it. A few members of one of the remaining Death Watch cells deciding to make trouble for Jango by killing off some Republic officials under his protection. And Obi-Wan was there, beside him, blaster in hand as they moved with ease over the field of battle like they’d done it all their lives.

He’d looked towards him, once it was over, took in the battle-lust in Obi-Wan’s eyes, the flush of his cheeks, the slight streak of blood that probably wasn’t his running through his messy hair, and that was the moment.

That was the moment when the want, the need, took his breath away.

He thought, from the way the flush darkened on those pale cheeks when their gazes had locked, that Obi-Wan knew what he’d felt, too. But there had been no fear on his face.

The very first time he’d ever met Obi-Wan, he’d thought, I wish this boy could be my son, that I could raise him as Mando’ad and see him rise to be Mand’alor someday. Now he realized that boy was gone, grown away and replaced by a man just as impressive. One he certainly didn’t want to adopt, although he ached to bring him into his family, still.

Obi-Wan would always feel responsible for Melida-Daan, he knew, and would never leave his people behind. But Melida-Daan didn’t have to be part of the Republic and if Obi-Wan was the spouse of the Mand’alor...he’d still be responsible for all the planets within their Empire.

They wouldn’t come without a fight, but the fight didn’t have to cause any deaths. If he took the sector, if he came in force, they were no fools--they’d kneel.

Everybody Needs Luck - Far Future (possible) Scene

Oh, and for those not so shipping inclined, here’s another possible future scene from Everybody Need’s Luck. Spoilers for ENL.

Obi-Wan using a Force trick. CW very minor body horror.

(If you’ve read any of the pre-Republic stuff, you might have known this sort of thing was coming when Obi-Wan started messing with certain parts of the Force lol)

Disclaimer: This, like the last, is a possibility and not necessarily something that will definitely appear in ENL (or, at least in this case, in this manner).

He caught the wrist, breathing hard, trying to block out the fear-rage-pain of the others around him. There were so many ways he could handle this, so many options he had, but with the Dark side drifting through the space already and his own sharp stabs of pain from his injuries, he gave into his instincts and reached.

Bogan flowed through him like a lover’s caress, both repulsed and attracted to the Light that always waited within him, and he could feel each individual cell in the wrist under his fingers, the molecules that made it up, and he made them change.

His attacker’s screaming terror barely registered to him for a moment, his concentration fully on his Bogan-and-Light-powered display. He was jolted when the attacker jerked away, letting go of the wrist and his hold on that darker part of the Force.

Everyone, everything, had frozen in place to watch as stone crawled up and down the attacker’s arm, spreading from the fingerprint-shaped original marks. 

It stopped quickly, but the entire hand and forearm had been lost, now solid stone where before it had been flesh and bone.

Surrenders were all but screamed as the others dropped their weapons, falling to their knees, begging not to have that done to them.

you said to ask about THAT SCENE for your fics, so.... what about Everybody Needs Luck?

This one’s actually kind of hard and kind of easy, because it’s an early seen but I never actually ended up using it and rewrote over it.

Originally the fic started earlier--just before Qui-Gon left. So Obi-Wan was seeing the air raid against the Young, this old-man/young-boy witnessing so many children hurt and dying, and then he goes to face off against Qui-Gon.

He doesn’t request the ship, because he knows Qui-Gon will never do anything but save Tahl, and he gives him a lecture on attachment, basically tells him he’s a bad Jedi, and cuts off his braid in front of him. Not because he has any lingering hatred or anything, but because as an adult he cannot fathom what Qui-Gon is doing.

Obi-Wan isn’t perfect, but when it comes to loving and not having attachments he’s about as perfect as a Jedi can get, and he’s seen, in the most horrific way, what attachment can make a Jedi do. It’s no longer just a hollow memory of Qui-Gon abandoning a 13 year old in a warzone with a bunch of dying children because of his attachment to the woman he loves, but an immediate action he’s witnessing.

Anyway, I decided to start later, because I hate Qui-Gon and didn’t want to give him any scenes so early on and because I wanted to focus on the transition of Melida/Daan more than Obi-Wan’s hang-ups about his former Master.
