I spent an hour in line today so that I could vote. I'm registered for early ballot, but it was destroyed (I am not careful sometimes) and looked up my local polling place. A gentleman in front of me was there before I was for who knows how long before the line started moving. He got to the poll person and they took his ID. The poll person tells him, "I'm sorry, your polling place is [ten miles down the road]." He replies with, "Are you kidding me? I've been here since opening, I live two blocks from here! Let me vote, it's my right!" Cue awkward conversation with this 20-year old poll worker (kudos to you my millennial) who has to explain to the gentleman that if he casts his vote outside of his registered area, it would not be counted. Poll workers cannot change the rules for you. It is not their responsibility to make sure YOU know where your county lines and city lines are, and where you are in the census, and if you're registered to vote. They cannot make exceptions and you being upset only wastes YOUR time in getting to the right place to vote. Please vote responsibly.
