#everythingeverythingfilm this movie is as whimsical as the book feels. highly stylized, figurative writing is a curiosity to adapt. the book is a visual feast but I wondered how it would translate on film, because it's a different visual medium. one of my most favorite things about watching book adaptations is to find moments from the book that i recognize and it worked. the movie is an experience, it's like being inside a music video, and being transported to different worlds. online interaction plays a big part in the story and I imagine it would feel monotonous to be reading motion graphics of text exchanges for most of the movie. the visualisation of that exchange was clever. amandla stenberg and nick robinson have amazing chemistry, it's the quiet kind that draws your attention to them and keeps you with them. the soundtrack is funky but sweet, and an astronaut steals the show. this was so charming, it's the kind that makes you believe in love and the freedom it brings. 💙
