I could lie and say that it was when I first watched Citizen Kane (I still haven’t) is the moment I knew I could be a filmmaker but I am a giant nerd. It was this moment that I knew I wanted to make film. I am a sucker for films about brothers for obvious reasons. This one was about brothers and MORTAL KOMBAT! A Twofer! For years I would rewatch this film getting thrilled at the New Line Logo reveal with that score and cry at this scene (Judge me, I dare you). Unbeknownst to me I would start writing listening to the soundtrack over and over. Tracks One, Five, Six, Seven and whichever started with Test your Might, the others were too death metal and scary for my ears at the time. I started writing the sequel, imagining the new magic, setting high expectations. They must have known, the MK Annihilation poster appeared at a wall of coming soon posters with the tag line “Destroy all Expectations” Fast Forward to the second New Line logo and that score, James Remar’s face, costume change, Actor changes, bad vfx, bad martial arts, no more brother drama, random South African accent, *neck break*....JOHN....NYYYYY! 😡🤬In a 12 year old’s broken heart, the flame of film was lit. And now the fire rises 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🎥🎥🎥🎥 Follow @targetpracticepictures #makefilm #everythingforkayaan #storytelling #director #jihad #forthosewholovelifeandcourtdeath #filmfestival #cinematic #video #artist #writers #filmmaker #filmmaking #indiefilm #filming #producer #art #production #targetpracticepictures #independentfilm #guerrillafilmmaking #focusframeshoot #artofvisuals #shortfilm #filmcommunity #inspired #inspiredbylife P.S I am listening to those scary tracks now #bescary https://www.instagram.com/p/B9dsR43jtZL/?igshid=176banli27chv
