I Only Exist in the Spring
All other times of the year I feel my soul dissipate with the cold approaching, my body an empty vessel. But as soon as spring comes around, I’m awake. I think it’s the most human response I have. I feel the grass beneath my feet and bask in the sunlight. I am one organism, here right now. The sunlight feeds my soul and my body is nourished, ready for any possibility. But this is a revelation I’m just now having, on the eve of turning 20. I used to think I was the type of person who loved the cold, it suited my life at the time. But I can only grow in the sunlight. I don't know what kind of person I’ll be five years from now, but all I know is that I love who I’m becoming. My feelings starting to flow as easily as the seasons.
