The Evil Ben’s aren’t Evil

The best that I could figure with the “Evil” Ben’s is that they were just in bad spots taken in by bad influences, with Mad Ben probably being once of the most screwed with/over/up.

Eon took care/mentored most of them after taking them from points where they were most vulnerable and needing help, usually around the age of 13. (That’s why he was surprised to find Ben 23 not wanting to work with him; Ben Prime beat him to the Punch for the whole Mentor thing) From there he taught them to take care of themselves first, seeing as no one else was going too.

Vilgax wasn’t as involved with the Ben’s until later, once he figured out there was a way he could eliminate all the Bens at once, though he gave Mad Ben some tips as time went along.

Maltruant probably focused more on Mad Ben because his dimension had his Key. Probably convinced him to work with Eon so that he could get an idea of Prime before he had to fight him later.

Manipulating Mad Ben was a small part of Maltruant’s scheme, even if it was a big part of Mad Ben’s life.
