Jasper Thoughts: Negative/Evil Spirits? Since When?
I'm a tad confused about this whole "negative/evil spirit" and "trickster spirit" concept.
In my decade-ish years of being a pagan, I've never encountered these so-called spirits or "seen" them impersonate a deity.
In fact, the first time I even heard of this concept was via Witchblr, in books by primarily-Wiccan authors, and Wiccan-based sites like Witchipedia (don't lie, we all know it's primarily Wiccan-based).
So where did they get this idea from? Did Gerald Gardner pull it out of his ass? Did it come later with a different but still influential author? Did it come from earlier, like, say, Aleister Crowley's writings? Is it from one of the many, many cultures that Gardner and other early Wiccans pulled from?
Any sources and citations you have will be greatly appreciated!
