Machu Picchu - its history, beauty and marvels of engineering
The ancient city of Machu Picchu is located in the beautiful display at the top of the Andes in Peru. Who built and why? In the mid-1400s, the Inca empire covered 2,400 miles. Engineers were exceptional construction of cities such as Machu Picchu, as the wheel without tools. They ruled for 100 years until the Spanish conquered them in 1500. In 1572, the last Inca city Machu Picchu was destroyed yet are quietly hidden in the Andes. In 1911 Hiram Bingham discovered Machu Picchu, and said: "It 's quite took my breath away." He found the bodies of 100 people who believe 80% are women. However, the skeletons were recently reviewed, and believed to be both men and women who were in a class of royalty and working-class. The clue came from their diet, which was that of wheat, which was a royal food at the time of the Incas. It is thought that these bodies were the guardians and servants of Machu Picchu, where the King came to rest. More skulls and bones were found in a town near Machu Picchu called Patallacta. The people of that city were the workers and peasants. This burial place remains undisturbed for 500 years. These remains could well have been Incas Machu Picchu that has protected because of the fractures were found in their skulls. It is considered one of the first Inca king, Pachacuti, Machu Picchu ordered to be built. The masonry nice to think that was a real order. Machu Picchu is very steep and receives heavy rains cause landslides every year. Yet, after 500 years, many walls are solid and much of the ancient city can still be seen. The spring of cava and fresh water flowing through the city were a great help to developers. Starting from the foot of the mountain, the terraces were built one above the other. Within each terrace is dirt, gravel and soil that helps filter the water down the mountain easily. Within the city, which is paved with stone, is 100 drains and sixteen fountains that provided drinking water for the inhabitants. King Pachacuti had pure drinking water as he rested in his royal residence. The Incas worshiped the rivers and mountains as the sun god and thought of power derived from being associated with them. They also have their revered as kings and brought the mummies of each Inca in procession during festivals. After civil war broke out, the Inca empire collapsed. The Spanish never found Machu Picchu, and that has been standing for hundreds of years. Today he is at the top of the Andes. His technique is a tribute to the men who built it long ago. Imagine waking up every morning with the sun rays as its first peak of the mountains that surround this incredible city.Sources: WGBH TVwww.mnsu.edu
