Alt!
The street was crowded as the dark-haired young girl in a middle-school uniform bumped into the tall gentleman. "Sorry!" she said hurredly as she bolted down the street and around a corner, clutching her lunchbox. It didn't take the fellow long to realize that the fine gloves he'd kept in his pocket were suddenly absent. Chasing after the girl, he was able to catch her when a storefront display of blinking lights and glittering objects caught the girl's attention and she stopped dead in her tracks. She stared up at the display, eyes dilating in fascination, until the guy bowled into her and they both went tumbling.
"I'll be taking my gloves back," he said, brushing the dust off his fine coat as he stood up.
The girl frowned sympathetically. "Oh dear, you've lost your gloves? That's a terrible shame! But perhaps I could interest you in buying MY pair?" She produced the black gloves from a pocket somewhere and grinned up at him. When he was clearly unimpressed with her attempted bluff, the girl sighed. "Ah well, I guess the jig's up!"
Straightening up, the middle-school girl form melted away as her hair took on a shimmery, turquoise coloration. Her feet melted into golden cloved hooves as white tufts of fur sprouted around her ankles and wrists, and a long tufted tail sprouted from behind her. A curved golden horn adorned her forehead, and the grin she wore was pure mischief.
"Hi there! Sky's the name, shapenchanging's the game! Don't suppose I could interest you to tickets for the VERY exclusive festival performance of our school's kendo idol-?"
She was interrupted by the sudden appearance of a magical portal opening up beside them in the store window, spewing forth several goblins, as portals are likely to do! The unicorn-esque girl suddenly triples in size as fur and scales grow all across her, and she tears into the hoard with wicked claws and fangs, now resembling something more like a chimaera-esque beast with lion mane and snakely tail lashing.
Once the last goblin was dispatched, the girl shrunk back down to her regular form, clothing intact, and gave the very started gentleman a pat on the arm as she pushed his gloves back into his hands. "Sorry about that. No hard feelings!" And with that, she skipped on down the road. It was only after she'd bounced out of sight that the fellow realized his... *SHOES* were missing?!

(Augh, old art from 2005!)
Allow me to introduce Sky, the character I played during college in a BESM D20 campaign! The setting was a space-faring civilization with hundreds of worlds each with their own pocket of reality/development, meaning one place could be medieval fantasty era, and another one could have giant mechs and space ships! Basically, anything went! Sky here was my shapechanger who was a girl cursed by an artifact, making her "default" form something like a unicorn-girl. Her go-to battle form was a big chimera-ish beast. The most fun with her though was her incredibly high bluff score along with her faults - kleptomaniac and Easily Distracted (Shiny Things) set to MAX. She was once kept from making mischief with the space ship's turrets by one of the other party members tossing a coin down the hallway.
Sky is definitely from that same pool as several of my other characters draw from - spunky, female, a bit on the tomboyish edge, confident and cute and prone to getting into mischief.
