Mattie’s Day Out

As much as Mattie loved spending time with her housemates, sometimes she needed a bit of time for herself. And today was definitely one of those days. Lance and Pietro were fighting again, probably about something silly like who should lead the team, (really, like it even mattered since they all answered to Mystique and Pietro’s father anyway.) so, Mattie had made the wise decision to get out of the house for a while. Normally when her friends fought she would try to calm things down, but Lance was in an especially bad mood, and well…it was difficult to mediate when the house started to shake like that. Honestly it was a miracle that place was still standing…

Still, she hoped they got over whatever they were arguing about soon. She didn’t like knowing her friends were unhappy…. Come to think of it, Todd and Freddy probably weren’t having a great time right now either. “I should do something to cheer them up…” She quietly said to herself. She had been planning on checking out that new bakery downtown, maybe some sweets would make them feel better?

Mattie sighed in contentment as the warm sweet air of the bakery hit her. It was so nice to get out of the cold. Just as she was about to take a look at the dessert case, she felt someone grab her arm and yank her back outside.

“Well, if it isn’t the Looserhood’s little snake.” Mattie looked up, and much to her dismay, it was one of Duncan Matthew’s asshole friends, which knowing her luck, meant he wasn’t too far away… “Shouldn’t you be going to the pet store to eat some mice?”

“I don’t eat mice…” She muttered quietly, barely managing to remove herself from the bully’s grip. “Don’t you and your friends have anything better to do than mess with me?”

“Oh, you’re long overdue, freak.” He said with a glare. Mattie tried not to wince at the word. “Look around, the rest of the sideshow you live with aren’t here to protect you now, are they?”

Mattie backed up, trying to figure out if she should try and out run them. She wasn’t as fast as Pietro, and she really didn’t want to use her powers on these clowns… What she wouldn’t give for some help right now…

More or less Evolution based since that's where a lot of our writing for them happens in and,,,I'm not sure about what would happen in main verse tbh (I'm laughing suddenly because Sal's main age is 24 while I'm p sure Mattie's main age is always 16 so,,,local bee man abused by teenage snake girl)

where they get married

Out in the country since it probably makes both of them feel safer. Maybe near a fruit orchid!

when they get married ( ie what time of day, what month and season etc. )

Late March since the weather will be picking up by then and near sunset since it's better for Sal.

what traditions they include ( do they get married under a chuppah and crush a glass, garter toss, ‘something borrowed, something blue,’ etc. )

Nah, Mattie and Sal probably don't want any traditions since its supposed to be their wedding and no traditions from shitty parents!!

Blueberry yogurt mousse cake! Sal demands blueberries and cue Mattie smooching her shrieky bee man.

Sal does but he thumbs and licks it off!

Mattie did and Sal thought she had been joking until a week later she had started talking to him about wedding arrangements.

They both stay at the alter since Sal doesn't have anyone apart from a few friends and Bex at work while Mattie gets her Brotherhood friends and some X-men.

what their wedding dresses / suits / other look like

Wedding jumpsuit baby! And I'm soft for Sal actually doing for something that looks smart and clean cut out of nervous needs to look good for Mattie.

what their wedding colour scheme is and what sort of decor they have

Lots of dark green that fades off into purple, playing onto the galaxy theme and a little bit like a forest at night! There's a lot of mini plants and candles as well as a sort of "picnic at night" theme.

what flowers are in the bouquet ( if applicable. bonus: what do the flowers mean? )

Pansy, Cosmo, hyacinth, primrose and white roses!

what their vows are ( eg poetry, traditional, improvised etc. )

Mattie wants to reassure Sal that they'll try at marriage, that they won't have anything to worry about so long as they just try and confide in each other. She wants to make happy memories for them both, wants to have a chance where they could move past everything adults had put them through.

Sal says that he's scared of what might happen but...anything with Mattie will have to be good. He wants to trust Mattie and trust in the idea that maybe he can have a better life now. With her. He wants it to be worth it, no matter what happens to them.

Tabitha is, but weddings aren't meant to be punctual, right? Mattie disagrees.

Mattie has Rogue, some of the new recruits she gets along with, Fred and Lance while Sal has Tabitha, Kitty, Pietro and some of his work friends.

Todd gives a speech and Sal almost tackles him for it and Wanda surprisingly gives a speech but really it's an awkard apology about making Sal into a dog which makes Mattie laugh.

Pietro does! Boy speeds to grab it.

what their wedding photos are like ( are they sweet, with the couple holding hands or kissing or ~gazing into each others eyes~? are they silly, with a snapshot of the ‘cake-smash’ moment? or are they artistic, with one of them facing the sunset or holding their bouquets? )

A lot Mattie smooching Sal's cheeks, quite a few of group photos with friends and a sweet one of Sal reaching up to pull Mattie into a kiss. And one where Sal shifts snake features for the heck of it!

what sort of food they have at the reception

They have a lot of meat dishes and pasta dishes since it's good for Mattie and Sal and a lot of desserts!!!

who cries first during the ceremony

Sal and he HATES IT because ew??? His makeup??? So what if he's finally happy he can't have a ruined face

how wild their reception gets ( who dances the best, who gets drunk first, etc. )

Absolutely wild I mean,,,its full of super humans and suddenly Mattie is dancing with a girl who is the entity host of the Phoenix force and Sal's blowing up balloons with Tabitha.

what their rings are like

Fancy rings and you bet that they do the couple colour swap like with Finn and Mattie.

what sort of favours they have ( heart shaped sparklers, mini champagne bottles, personalised candy etc. )

Lots of chocolate and flavoured champagnes since these babies love their fruity treats,,,and a stuffed toy poodle from Wanda that makes Mattie snort.

where they go for their honeymoon

Spain since it seems like a nice place to go and has plenty of heat for the both of them.

something memorable that happens during the party / ceremony ( do they run out of ice and someone goes to get it in full formal wear on foot, does anyone fall asleep in the middle of the party, etc. )

Todd and Sal get into an argument and long story short? Hissing snake wife makes them both shut up pretty quickly.

He was in a new school with his foster brother, Skaar. They were both terrified of anything happening after…after the incident. But what were they supposed to do? There was no one to go to! Skaar couldn’t stop making the ground shake and he couldn’t stop turning into that…thing.

But now wasn’t the time for the scary thoughts. Now there was a girl staring at him with obvious disgust. Bruce rubbed his eyes, trying to not think about how they must have been glowing that bright ugly green. “Uh- sorry? Sorry, could you repeat that again please?”

He and Peach had been found by the Xavier Institute months ago and Dae, depsite his initial terror and worry about being dragged back to the golden threads and rooms of pain, had adored being somewhere where people were like him and seemingly accepted him and his fellow clone.

He got "threapy", hours of mental stimulation from Professor Xavier since the older man needed to ensure that there was no chances of Dae and Peach being against the school, not to mention that Professor Xavier was worried about "truma" for some reason. Dr McCoy had continuously given him check overs when he found out the amount of damage Dae had gone through, Mr Logan insisted on training that meant that Dae didn't need to rely purely on hurting himself or the horrible training that Iris induced into him and Ms Storm had started teaching him to garden to help keep himself calm and busy.

The students were nice as well, everyone was colourful due to being an X-man and having a "Soulmate" (which was incredible, Dae hadn't ever been aware of why exactly he had the colours). Rogue, with all of her marks covered up along with her poisonous skin, had helped Dae, related to him and taught him how to cover up just as well as her. Which was why he was almost always seen wearing a black and purple X suit under a loose but long sleeved shirt that helped hide the good portions of his scars. It didn't hide the ones in his face though.

Dae's scars covered him entirely from years of trai-abuse but the most noticable ones were on his face. Big thick shards of diamonds almost covered the entire space of his eyes and mouth like a mask, which was often off putting to everyone in the school, back when Dae thought that it was awful to be a a monster among his own kind. The only good thing had been the scars on his torso and the little ones all around his thighs. They glimmered, especially at night, and if Dae wore thin enough clothing, he would bet that anyone would have been able to see his soulmate's marks shining through.

He spent nights palming those marks, rubbing his hands over his thighs with wonder and desperately think about who exactly could have been hurt like this to leave such beautiful marks. Would his soulmate think their own marks were ugly? Did they ever wonder what he might have went through? Dae spent the starts of those nights getting thrilled over a soulmate and ended them by adding to his face of scars, resigned to the fact that he knew his other half wouldn't like being so....ruined.

It had been almost four months at the institute before a welcoming party was being thrown for new students and Dae heard whispers of a boy with soulmate marks so big that they practically covered his entire face. People were whispering that Dae had finally found his soulmate and the diamond-studded mutant found playful touches at his arms and bright smiling faces from people who were more excited than he was at the prospect.

Dae......well, he spent the party trying to avoid this boy with the large marks, tried to avoid him like a coward until suddenly he had turned around and almost bumped into someone shorter than he was.

"Ah! Suh-sorry, I'm- s-s-sorry! I'll, uh-" Dae had stepped back, multiple apologies on his tongue dying down when he saw very familiar marks and a very beautiful face staring back at him.

"Oh no."

Been thinking about evo and I dunno here's some tropes I think would work well for Team Ass???

The group all sitting around and trying to work out their cover stories and oh god please don't let them find out.

Ava trying to get a grip on her shapeshifting but has a running gag of shifting into people like Duncan or Kitty and then dealing with the fact that people think she's them and whoop suddenly she's on a mission and having to fake the fact that she can't phase.

Mimi joins a sports team but realises that her strength is AWFUL for it. Needs help figuring out her passion and basically tries out every activity at school (even super teams) before settling for the art club.

Finn getting hunted down after he ran too fast in gym class and now he's getting shit from jocks and probably Pietro over who's really fast enough but all Finn did was run after a squirrel to see if he could talk to them RIP.

Sal going on a crime streak and sets out on making sure that he's in charge of Bayville but whoops now hes dragging attention to alien and mutants and needs help before he gets caught and why he's acting out.

Mahogany keeps almost outing every mutant they meet and it becomes a big problem, especially since Duncan sees them as an opportunity to get some freaks out in the open. Bad things happen when Mahogany finds out and decides that they're pissed over being used.

Edith and Wulf just trying to fit in but they're so awful and in gym class they're just...bench pressing the bleachers and Wulf just screams a fancy title for one of the cool mutant kids and Edith is suddenly tackling him and should she be hitting him that hard? Should he be getting up that easily?? Why are they talking about death in battle???

Pascal keeps telling fates and he's started a kinda illegal business but whoop now he's wanted by Mystique and Xavier for his fortune powers and oh god Mystique is going to try and deprive him of sleep.

A running trope of people trying to fight one of the Fletcher's but it keeps being the wrong triplet and the fight is in their favour.

Adonai is causing romance trouble and won't stop shifting and slowly enthralling the whole school and Ava just teaming up with someone to stop her fool of a sibling.

The Sadie Hawkins dance causes issues for Sal, Doe and Mahogany since no one wants to go with Magni and Sal and Doe don't know if they should ask someone or if they get asked. Meanwhile Edith keeps on getting asked by almost every girl in the school. Buff lebsian for the win.

Hiding the properly inhuman kids and the class just ○-○ when the Asgard siblings tall about mythology as if they'd been there themselves while Sal, resident bad boy, launches into a long speech about space science and argues with the teacher over it.

One of these kids kicks the SHIT out of Duncan and there's a lot of tension afterwards. Maybe said kid gets more threatening afterwards and kinda needs someone to help em calm down?

Peach leaves her brothers and takes up residence in the school pool (I assume they have one?) Then there's a whole "legend" about the school monster but no it's just Peach making her way downtown and taking the good food from the cafeteria.

An incident leads to Dae controlling most of the school and there's a few team ups to try and reach Dae to see what's exactly wrong with him and please stop making people attack us.

Morde has begun dream walking and keeps collecting info so he can hold it against others. Becomes a thing where he refuses to stop and parts of it is due to how he's more interested in people's minds than his own.

Pascal kinda getting annoyed about the fact that he's the only Inhuman? Maybe leads to an aggressive stance against the mutant teams because "oh?? You want me??? Funny how no other Inhumans are here huh"

Connecting that!! Pascal, Mahogany or Sal kinda having a meltdown by all this shit and when getting the "why're you doing this???" "We don't act this way!" Then a super aggressive "I'm not one of you!" Thing.

Running thing of monsters in Bayville when Doe, Peach and Mahogany go running about at night and suddenly people are scared and these three are just smirking at everyone???

Running gag of each of Team Ass stealing Scott or Lance's car and at one point Finn steals Logan's motorcycle.

Vigilantes!!! F U CK I LOVE VIGILANTE STUFF PLS. Just......lemme design cheesy names and costumes for these babies,,,,,

Brief argument where everyone splits onto X vs B? Then realises wow both sides are terrible and just go back to being the Breakfast club of Bayville.

Some stuff from their childhood still haunts them?? Ava and the Newbies just having flashes of blackouts and not remembering possibly dangerous stuff they've done? Sudden personality changes due to Iris's influence being stronger? Mimi still goes to fighting clubs because she can't drop the habit and needs to do this since she's at a place where this feels like the only thing she can do.

Finn just struggling with his parents and accepting what he is? He's never known what a mutant is before so figuring out where he stands and how he's supposed to act. Sal just fresh from the abuse hes suffered for a year and a half (and a childhood) more desperate to find home and people like him and the crushing reality that he really is the only of his kind and being the least likely to trust adults and he's so angry until he starts ballet.

Mahogany dealing with a similar issue of not knowing where they belong and having points where they're struggling so bad at being human and possibly just trying so hard until it all goes wrong and everyone knows they're a monster. Pascal being surrounded by people so suddenly and trying to not get panicked when people want their fates read and maybe he's trying too hard, that he needs to do better so no one dies again. The strained anger of being told he's better than humans, just like his mother said before she sold his sister.

The asgard siblings dealing with being away from home and being top tall, too strong and too unearthly for everyone. Confusion at the siding war of the mutants and maybe they try to hard to fix it all.

So Turning Red has inspired me to share a headcanon I’ve had about my X-Men Evolution Verse.

It takes place in the early 2000’s.

Because that’s when the show took place, and it’s nostalgic, and god I love the aesthetic.
