Jellicle Favourites Day 11 - Favourite Non Replica Actress

Just like yesterday I couldn't pick just one, so I'm picking two and my picks are Ewa Lachowicz aka Demeter in Warsaw and Dava Huesca aka Rumpleteazer in Cats: the Jellicle Ball (PAC NYC)

I love and adore Ewa, she was the only Warsaw Demeter, all throughout the 300+ shows, never missed one and her voice is just absolutely amazing. Her Demeter is bit more angry than anxious and she's just phenomenal at showing it. And her version of Glamour Cat, the emotion with which she sings it really made me love that song

As for Dava, I've been following her on social media during the PAC's run and she was a joy to watch, from the backstage to the stage, she seems like such a fun person and I feel she really embodies the playful and a bit cheeky vibe that Teazer has

It's clear it's the rehearsal, not a performance because:

Demeter's wig is unfinished

Bombalurina's costume is unfinished, the obvious right sleeve is later covered by a black opera glove

Both of their make ups are unfinished (lack of lipstick, nose and cheeks stripes)

The woman not in costume behind Demeter and Bomba is either the assistant choreographer, Dorota Krupska-Narloch or Cassandra's actress Katarzyna Gaweł-Stańkowska

I love Warsaw Demeter so fucking much

She is cute and relatively small (Ewa Lachowicz is 160-165 cm tall with most other actors being around 170 cm and taller; also making herself as smaller with her moves and costume)

But she's also very much a protector

And she knows how to use herself as a bait for Mac and to get others out the way

Also the whole "Demeter is Grizabella's daughter" which like, I've never seen in any other production

It adds so much flavour and hey, Deme is not just lady in distress but also a daughter struggling with wanting her mother back when everyone around her is like no, she's bad news

(And to that Griz wanting to be back partially cuz her daughter/literally everyone and not old D? Give me more of that every day)

Add to that Ewa's fucking amazing voice, especially that moment in the end of "Macavity" where she just goes off with that note, i really miss it in other productions

Also, this is the only design where i really get that Demeter is gold queen, cuz like the main colour for her is actually this gold-related tone, not mostly dark with yellow-gold bits like in og version

In conclusion, Warsaw Demeter is a darling, i love her so fucking much and just i need her more in my life
