Her fingers wrap around her pendant, trembling. She cannot stop the shaking, though she tries -- gods, she’s been trying to settle her breathing for hours. She thought she was alone. Pain shoots along her spine, her arms, her chest; she can do nothing to stop it, she has never been able to stop it. She’s rarely caught when she’s suffering from her song’s curse, and she doesn’t intend to let it happen again.
Her fingers tingle. She quickly covers her forearm where blue light has begun to gather.
She takes an unsteady breath, and forces her voice to stay level. “P-Please, don’t worry. I am... fine,” she chokes out. This is a practiced effort.
“I just need some time alone--” She’s cut short by an involuntary shout of pain. She’s crossing her arms over her body to conceal it all, but how can she? She bends over, nails digging into her arms as she gasps for breath.
“Please,” she wheezes, her voice cracking, “j-just go!” He can’t see her like this. Go, she begs internally. Go, and forget this ever happened.
