people who hate modern art movements (not contemporary i mean like 20th century movements) really should learn to read. like most of the artists at the forefront of movements wrote manifestos explaining their ideas and why they were fighting so hard against the established canon. the pop culture/government feedback loop of modern art hatred is trying to cauterize your brains so you can’t think past the western canon and all of the incredibly racist colonialist sexist etc ideas that it champions
