Like swollen rivers & Mosquitos full of hard fought human blood. Like growing older & having kids. Intimate details stretched over skittery, percussive thunderclouds. Hearing new songs for the first time is intimidating & exciting. Like grabbing an electric fence. Digging in &...replanting. Anyway, as Chris said "We've been away for awhile. At the beginning of my solo trip I wrote a quote in the front of a fresh empty journal... "YOU have something important to contribute, & you HAVE to take the risk to contribute it." It's a quote from Mae Jemison, the first African-American female in space & I felt like it was appropriate for how I was feeling. Low & behold when I get to my airbnb in Minneapolis last night it's space themed and called "The Launch Pad." This is book that's sitting on the coffee table. What does it mean?...I'll tell you... Road (& air) tripping to @eauxclaireswi year 3! This pack is full of things I carry physically & mentally. Music marking time & space. Little bits of songs & liner notes twining themselves to moments I've lived & people I've been. Memories & melodies. This is how I pack, this is how my brain unpacks. This year the challenge is to look forward. To improve. We all have unique skills & talents to contribute. I want to give/use mine freely & to be an accomplice to those less fortunate, less privileged, or simply in need.
