hope found solace in the girls bathroom of a café downtown. tears rolled down her cheeks as she scrambled to a sink to wash her face. grief tended to strike at the strangest times, like a few minutes ago when she saw a father daughter interaction. perhaps it was because her memories came back just recently that she was having these spurts of emotions regarding her parents deaths. first her mind would go to them, then to her aunts and uncles, finally to her friends from the salvatore boarding school and it would become too much. the sadness would turn into anger, just how it did currently. she was angry that she could have possibly forgot her family, angry how even in another life she still couldn’t be happy. she was beginning to think it was the price to pay for being a cosmic mistake.
her knuckles turned white from how hard she gripped the sides of the sink, her breathing was heavy as she tried to will herself to push the emotions away. the anger was bubbling over, she knew she had to release it in some way or her magic would make an appearance. impulsively she punched the mirror, shards of glass fell loudly onto the floor, but hope didn’t think twice about it. she gripped her injured hand with the opposite one as she inspected the cuts and blood flowing out of it. perhaps now was a good chance to test that healing spell since it was one of the most simple ones to wield. as her luck would have it, however, she was unable to do so because someone decided to walk into the bathroom. before the person could have a chance to say anything hope tried to hide her bleeding hand behind her back, “everything’s fine!”
