DSA 9. i’ve never even played guilty gear
i promised i'd draw EXE beast soon and, well, here they are!
Tea time is about meeting friends and dressing up! Invited guests only.
just ignore how rough the skull in the bg looks aaaaaa
About Testament, there's something that called my attention. The first succubi appeared as a crow and her original appearance because Testament is freed from Justice's control? (since we saw that she appeared as an EXE Beast in Missing Link). And the 2nd (from Strive) where did she come from?
We don't know their official names yet (though I casually refer to them as PINK and BLUE respectively).
They seem to be able to swap places with Testament at any given moment… (particularly during Possession/Warrant).
The implication is that Testament merged "his" existence with EXE Beast's and "they" are all one and the same vessel… so PINK and BLUE are probably an extension of Testament's vessel as well (either as part of the blood contract, or simply merged with Testament's existence).
Rather, it seems to be the case that PINK and BLUE are "offspring" from the original EXE Beast, so in fact you could technically classify them as Testament's children.
The details are rather hazy right now, but it is certain that the original EXE Beast had the ability to transform in to "Calamity One/Arbiter Sign" (EXE Beast "jaws") as well as the small Crow familiar (Unholy Diver).
So it would only make sense that PINK and BLUE both have the same abilities as the original succubus EXE Beast.
As for the origin of EXE Beast herself... it was sometime after Testament’s defeat at the hands of Kliff Undersn in the year 2140, when Testament was nearly mortally wounded by Kliff during their last fight during the Crusades.
At the time, Testament was, as he put it “a low level Gear”, so merging his existence with EXE Beast was his way of increasing his powers so he could get his revenge on Humanity (and Kliff, which he later killed during the faux tournament in 2180).
Are the glowing red runes on Testament's body due to his contract with his succubus?
Testament’s blood contract relates to both his scythe and the succubus “EXE Beast”.
Since the scythe forms from within his blood (which the runes on his body might be evidence of), there’s a possibility that EXE Beast is related to that blood contract in Seventh Sign.
Arguably, Testament is reluctant to “draw his scythe” near innocents and those whom he’d rather befriend, even though Testament is not the most sociable individual and struggles with his dislike of Humans.
If the runes are indeed evidence of that contract of servitude, Testament has not fully explained their nature… only going so far as to state that he (at one point) was willing to sacrifice his life in order to revive Justice from her sealed state using his blood as the conduit to restore her (even though that was partly the cause of her being revived in an “incomplete” smaller appearance than her original “giant” appearance).
Still, somehow Testament managed to survive the events of the first Guilty Gear, and became much stronger as a result… how strong he is has yet to be fathomed.
Did Testament have EXE Beast in the first game?
Yes he does.
He comments that when he last encountered Kliff he was “just a low level Gear” at that time. So as of the first Guilty Gear he had gotten much stronger since his origins pre-2140.
EXE Beast seems to take both the form of monstrous fangs that Testament can summon, as well as a Raven who can transform in to a Succubus.
Fans often called the Succubus “Zio” in Japan and elsewhere… but according to the GGXrd Library (even in the Japanese version of the game) its name is in fact “EXE Beast”.
