Hark, the Empress Arrives!
It was only a matter of time, before Janto finally found a mate worthy enough to call his Queen. His Empress. He wanted heirs, ones to spread his legacy across the world.
He chatted about this constantly with Azarhi for years, as they laid together after a pleasurable bout in bed. Azarhi would listen and just nod and smile politely, while Janto rested his head on his chest, as he rambled on.
Eventually, Azarhi had to voice his worries. And one night he did, while stroking Janto’s hair, after another lovely session in bed.
“My Lord, will I be replaced, once you find your Queen?”
Janto has paused, before raising his head, causing Azarhi to stop in his actions. For a moment, Azarhi was struck by fear. Had he said the wrong thing? Would Janto really just toss him back into the sex slave ring, now that he no longer had a use as his lover? Azarhi was trembling and tearing up before he knew it. Janto instantly started shushing him quietly, as he sat up and cupped Azarhi’s face in his hands.
“My dear, dear Azarhi...” purred Janto, his thumbs wiping away the tears that started trailing down Azarhi’s face, “You will never be replaced. You have a special place with me. Even if I end up getting a Queen, you will always be special to me. Now and always.”
He spoke so honestly, that Azarhi nodded, fully believing that to be true. While deep down, he knew what was going to happen. It was inevitable, after all. But maybe, just this once, maybe the universe would be kind to him. Maybe he would remain forever by Janto’s side, as his only one. He selfishly hoped that a Queen never took his Janto away. The Janto that saved him from such a horrible lifestyle. The Janto that truly loved him...
...The universe wasn’t kind, though.

“Rise! The Empress has graced the floor with her presence!”
The room all stood, as Janto and his new Empress walked across the floor, arm in arm. After he had infused himself with the Shade and recover, he had gone out on a journey to test his powers. He brought no one with him. No one knew if he’d ever return, if the Shade took him over completely or not. But he did eventually return. And, a few days later, a new presence had come to the palace. A female Imperial by the name of Daasdrei.
She was gorgeous, Azarhi had to admit. She stood tall, and had an almost ethereal beauty about her. Her hair was just about as long as Janto’s was, and laid straight, cascading over her shoulders. Like Janto, she wore glittering robes, and a small grown was on her head. Her eyes were a deep purple, showing that she hailed from the Shadow territory. Azarhi found that quite ironic--a Light dragon being paired with Shadow. The territories were right next to one another, too.
The pair made their way up to the throne, where another had been set out right next to Janto’s old one. Hand in hand, they ascended the stairs, before turning to face the crowd. Janto beamed, as he looked out at everyone gathered.
“Behold! Your new Empress! Empress Daasdrei!”
Daasdrei bowed before straightening to look out at everyone. A cheer rang out, before everyone bowed respectively in return. Azarhi did as well, though he couldn’t help the bad feeling sinking in the pit of his stomach. He glanced up and, for a split second, he locked eyes with Dassdrei. She looked surprised for a moment, before a smile--no, more of a smirk--cross her lips.
Azarhi quickly averted his eyes. He did not like that look at all...

After the ceremony, Azarhi and Erin followed Janto and Daasdrei down the hall, where they were heading towards their quarters. Erin stood proudly, looking at her Emperor and Empress with reverence. Azarhi wished he could, as well. But the gnawing pit was still there. Before he knew it, the pair stopped, causing them to stop as well. Janto turned slightly, looking at the two.
“Erin, you’re dismissed. We’ll hail you if we need you.”
Erin bowed respectively, her veil touching the ground, “As you wish, my Emperor. And congratulations on the union.” She turned to Daasdrei and bowed as well, “My Empress.”
Daasdrei nodded, smiling at her as the Mirror straightened up and went on her way. Azarhi watched her leave, before stepping closer to Janto, only stopping when he held out his hand to stop him.
“Return to your quarters, Azarhi.” said Janto, though...it wasn’t a request. It was more like a demand. Azarhi swallowed that cold fear, as he stood there, blanking out. He always returned to Janto’s quarters, when he was taking a break from his duties. Was he already being replaced by a Queen?
“My Lord...” started Azarhi, moving forward slightly, “My duties always have me accompany you to your quarters...”
“Well, now that’s changed.” said Janto so simply, that the words cut Azarhi, “I now have a powerful Queen to be at my side. I’ll discuss matters with you later, so...go now.”
Azarhi swallowed hard, before bowing deeply to them both. As he straightened up, Daasdrei gave him another smirk that sent a horrible feeling right to his gut. He turned around quicker than what was necessary and walked away, hands clenched at his sides. Numbly, he walked back to his own room. Alone. Hurt. Scared.
Walking in, he felt so alone. He hadn’t felt this loneliness since he was in the sex slave ring. Walking over to his bed, he collapsed down on top of it, curling up on the mattress that seemed much too big, now that Janto wasn’t there to fill it. And now, he wasn’t sure if he ever would again...
‘You will never be replaced. You have a special place with me. Even if I end up getting a Queen, you will always be special to me. Now and always.’
Janto’s words of many years ago rang through Azarhi’s head, as he wrapped his arms and tail around himself and sobbed quietly.
