MLK Day of Service Community Impact Day Event On January 17, 2022, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by engaging in a day of service in our communities to promote peace and community through love. Due to the rising COVID cases throughout the Houston Area and out of an abundance of caution to all parties, we feel that at this time we must err on the side of caution for everyone's safety and transition our in-person event to a Drive-Thru Donation Drop-Off Community Service Impact Day Event. As part of our day of service event, we will return to the Northwest Assistance Ministries (NAM) for our 2022 MLK Day of Service Community Impact Day event. The Drive-Thru Donation event will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at 15555 Kuykendahl Road, Houston, TX 77090. This event is Drive-Thru only and supporters are asked to NOT leave their vehicles upon arrival. We are asking chapter members and supporters to consider supporting our community efforts by donating to this worthy organization. On Monday, January 17, 2022, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, we will be onsite collecting: • Prepared Valentine’s Day Cards for the Homebound Seniors and Disabled Adults of the Meals on Wheels Program • Non-perishable food pantry items for The Joanne Watford Nutrition Center • Personal Hygiene Care Packages for the Family Violence Center The collection will take place behind the main NAM building. Upon arrival, participants should turn into the parking lot off Kuykendahl Rd and proceed to make their donation behind the NAM black glass building. Please remain in your vehicle while your items are retrieved. As always, we thank you for your continued support of our Chapter Programs.
