Oh boy. Man in Hazmat/Former FEMA my son that I’m always disappointed in. (I love him so much)
Here are my personal headcanons (minus some spoilers for Burnt Kennel):
General headcanons:
His name is Ilya and he is asshole
He is 30 years old.
He would claim he’s straight, but honestly I think he’s gay and in denial. Maybe bisexual at the very least.
He’s short, about 5’3 and yes, he is self-conscious about it.
I think he’s still a virgin because he kind of chases everyone away.
He hates wearing his glasses, but contacts make his eyes irritated, so sometimes he just chooses to not see well.
He puts his hair up sometimes because he hates when it touches his face.
He suffers from panic attacks that leave him immobile sometimes.
Pre-cataclysm
He lives in an apartment by himself in the city and has his own car. Yes, he does get road rage.
His mother passed away when he was pretty young, his father became an alcoholic after that. He never really had anyone to be a parental figure growing up.
He was bullied heavily in school because he can’t help but act snobbish sometimes. Sometimes he truly doesn’t mean it though and doesn’t understand that sometimes his words come across as insults and aren’t helpful.
The other students would call him five-eyes because of his polycoria. They’d also comment on his height and forehead.
Once he graduated high school, he went university because he had really good grades. He became a pharmacy technician for a little while.
Post-Cataclysm
The moment the cataclysm dropped he also dropped his job to join FEMA. When he heard they were taking anybody, that’s when he applied. Because of his background, they allowed him to run the front desk at the Quarantine Zone and test anyone who came by for visitor signs.
He secretly loves checking eyes because of how he was mocked in school. As soon as someone has red eyes are darting pupils, he was more than happy to send them away. The kind of revenge he wished he could have had.
He loves flaunting his authority. He’s never felt powerful like that before.
He always wears his gloves in uniform because he has small hands and they don’t look threatening.
He gave the Widow her husband back purely based on the fact that she was annoying and he didn’t think he’d get fried (spoiler, he did)
He will lie about still being in FEMA or that he never worked with FEMA if he thinks it’ll get him his way.
He is a coward when it comes to people bigger than him. If someone points a gun at him or he feels threatened, he will surrender.
