Humans Are Neat ...
... because of the country/western two-step.
Dance is an absolutely ancient form of expression, and plenty has been said about it. Myself? I'm particularly fond of the way that Havelock Ellis (1859-1939) described it: "Dancing is the loftiest, the most moving, the most beautiful of the arts, because it is no mere translation or abstraction from life; it is life itself." The Dance of Life, ch. 2 (1923)
Ballroom dancing is my preferred style of dance, as it is the only type of dance that I am really acquainted with on a personal level (beyond the untrained and unrestrained movements that most people are capable of performing when inspired to dance in the privacy of their bedrooms, when no one else is looking, sometimes in front of mirrors).
Here we see one form of ballroom dance, the country or western two-step (also sometimes called the Texas two-step), as performed at an exhibition ballroom dancing competition. The two dancers put on an excellent performance, with lots of feeling and polish, and this clip -- in spite of its imperfect resolution -- remains one of my favorite examples of exhibition ballroom dancing. Please enjoy it, and remind yourself once more that humans are neat.
