Winnipeg noise. Filmed this Cold Catcher set at a Brain Wave Tapes show I played there last week.
Lucky Dragons -- Real Fire
from Existers (2012)
Lucky Dragons are now, and always have been, the coolest. And if you don't believe me, listen to this track 'Real Fire,' accompanied by some psychedelic fake fire. Pick up their LP at bandcamp for lots more playful percussion and buzzy electronic bliss.
LUCKY DRAGONS : EXISTERS (MATTHEWDAVID REMIX)
I made a music video for Lucky Dragons/Matthewdavid here it is!
Food for thought
Through my experiences and conversations with others, I have found that there are two types of people in the world. The first of which are the "thinkers", or the ones who question the current standards of our everyday norms. I am a thinker and I always have been. The second of which are the "existers", or the ones who just get by without even wanting the answers to why certain things are the way they are.
While the existers are alive, they never fully live because they never fully feel, if that makes sense. They numb themselves of thought- or specifically from overthinking. That's not to say that this is always the case, because of course we need to factor in the existence of free-will and someone's ability to choose to be a thinker.
Similarly, free will exists in the realm of the "exister" because some people may choose not to question norms in an attempt to stay strong and unscathed by their own thoughts getting the best of them. In my opinion, there are way more existers than thinkers for this reason. Essentially, being an exister is "playing it safe". Personally though, I'd rather feel too much than to feel nothing at all.
As far as nature vs. nurture goes, I feel like people are either born as one or the other, leaving little room or subject for change. Of course, there will be experiences that thinkers go through in life which make them realize that they are a thinker and not an exister. Existers on the other hand, never even realize that there's such a thing as a thinker because quite frankly, they've never even thought about it.
I guess it's safe to say that thinkers can also define themselves as existentialists and transcendentalists. The thinkers are the ones who close their eyes while swooshing vastly through the air on a swing, simply to imagine what it feels like to fly. They're the hopeless romantics. I'm a hopeless romantic who is hoping for more people to become thinkers.
I hope that someone reads this. I know that most people will think that this is absolutely absurd and that I'm overthinking. Just know that if you do feel that way, you're an exister. I have faith that there will be atleast a handful of thinkers who will be like "wow, this is so spot on".
Let me know if this moved you in any way.
