Just thinking about the mormon church's BILLIONS of dollars and how they could rehabilitate their entire image in an instant by providing food to snap recipients this holiday season, but instead they're gonna put up a bunch of "giving machines" and guilt already financially struggling people into giving their money for stuff the church could easily be doing times a thousand with their own hoarded wealth

Hey. So uhm not really sure how to start this.

This blog is inspired by blogs such as @this-is-transsanism @this-is-transgynephobia @this-is-transandrophobia @this-is-ableism etc

I wanted to have a space not only to share my own experiences as an agnostic-ish exmormon Jewish convert in progress but also to give a platform to people who have left their religion and have been shunned, mocked, or otherwise oppressed because of it. Unfortunately the only term I could come up with was anti-apostasy, which certainly carries a negative tone, so if anyone has suggestions for another term for this specific thing please don’t be afraid to share them.

So who EXACTLY is this for?

I made this blog with Ex-Mormons/Ex-LDS or FLDS (or other variations) folks, Ex-JWs, Ex-Amish folks, or otherwise ex high control group/cult members in mind. However, this is really for anyone who has ever left any religion for any reason. Whether you came back to it eventually or not, whether you left because of some big revelation or just fell away, whether you became atheist or agnostic or converted to something else, if you have experienced discrimination from your community for leaving a religion, you deserve a space and you are welcome here. If you’re queer, trans, intersex, a POC, plural, disabled, mentally ill, etc etc etc, you deserve a space and are welcome here.

LET ME BE CLEAR, however:

This is not a place for bigotry. There is a line between criticism and hatred. Your reason to leave your religion is valid but if you want to tear down other people’s joy in their religion do it somewhere else. Religion and spiritual beliefs can be beautiful things for people. What we are criticizing here is organized religious structures that are often extremely harmful to those involved in them, the use of religion to justify bigotry, etc. NOT belief itself.

Additionally, though I have no DNI, for your information, I am anti Radqueer, anti Radfem (in ALL forms), anti Zionist, anti capitalist, anti government in general, and PRO all forms of plurality. If you have an issue with this, scroll or block or whatever you have to do. I also do not tolerate hatred against non harmful paras and personality disorders or otherwise stigmatized disorders. I am against AGAB language and the TME/TMA binary (due to personal reasons some of which you can probably guess based on my personal info below)

Important information: I AM A MINOR (15-17). Keep this in mind. I am okay with receiving asks about ‘NSFW’ topics as I understand that sexual trauma and abuse and other such things can be a huge part of why someone might leave their religion. However, for my sake, please steer away from extremely graphic descriptions of anything. I am also a very blurry mediple system, and I often use I/Me when referring to myself instead of We/Us because of said bluriness. If you see changes in tone on this blog that’s probably because we’ve switched fronters or because one of us has stronger influence than the others at the moment. For convenience I will say you can usually default to he/they for us but I will put the pronouns of the current fronter in the tags of each post as well.

”it’s not church culture, it’s Utah culture!” Is such a fucking stupid argument. Utah culture IS church culture. The church literally owns Utah. Utah has the highest concentration of Mormons in the world. That alone should tell you that your argument is false. Idc how many nice Mormons you’ve met. It’s like saying “it’s not Catholic culture, it’s Vatican culture!”. An individual religious person can be nice to you without that making the entire religion’s culture good.
