Enjoy the exotic tastes of the Middle East with this cool iced coffee that has homemade cardamom vanilla syrup and a hint of rosewater. It's a lovely mix of flowery notes and fragrant spices, great for a hot day.
Ingredients: 1 cup strong brewed coffee, chilled. 2 tablespoons homemade cardamom vanilla syrup. 1/2 teaspoon rosewater. 1/4 cup milk dairy or non-dairy. Ice cubes. Ground cardamom and rose petals for garnish optional.
Instructions: Brew a cup of strong coffee and allow it to cool to room temperature. You can also refrigerate it for faster chilling. In a separate small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of granulated sugar. Add 4-5 crushed cardamom pods and 1 vanilla bean split and scraped to the saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally. Once it boils, reduce the heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the syrup thickens slightly and becomes aromatic with cardamom and vanilla. Remove the syrup from heat and let it cool. Strain it to remove the cardamom pods and vanilla bean, leaving you with a fragrant cardamom vanilla syrup. In a serving glass, add the chilled brewed coffee, cardamom vanilla syrup, and rosewater. Stir well to combine. Add ice cubes to the glass to your desired level of dilution and chill. Pour in milk dairy or non-dairy to taste, and give it another gentle stir. Garnish with a pinch of ground cardamom and a few dried rose petals if desired. Serve your Middle Eastern Iced Coffee immediately and enjoy!
