🍪 – our muses bake cookies together

The very F I R S T real holiday season. T R A D I T I O N S are shared and she learns their meaning, how they work– why they’re so incredibly significant. The cookies threw her off a little, everyone seems to have a different P E R S P E C T I V E as to why they’re important. But he carefully explains how sweet they taste, how warm and crispy they are. She wants to T A S T E them. They sound heavenly, “We…make the cookies?” She’s learned a trade or two, yes. But cookies? That’s a first for her, “Can you show me how?”

Will used to find it hard to pick which his favorite was between Christmas and Halloween, but after having his Halloween ruined by an otherworldly creature yet again, he decides that this year there was no contest; Christmas is going to win his favor. It's the perfect way to celebrate their survival from another harrowing ordeal and, the two new additions to their party. Which is why he brought it upon himself to help Jane get acquainted with a few Christmas traditions.

❝ Uh-huh, I've got it all set up. ❞ He beams, leading Jane to the Byers kitchen. It was a humble one compared to Mike's ( the Wheeler's ) but it had an oven and that was all that mattered, really. He's specifically asked permission from his mom to take over the place today for educational purposes. Jonathan even sponsored some of their ingredients.

The youngest Byers' halts in front of the dining table where the ensemble is spread out, ( flour, cinnamon powder, nutmeg powder, baking soda, sugar, honey and vanilla extract... ) and he leans over an open recipe book. Will beckons Jane close so they can look over it together. On the page along with the instructions is a picture of colorful biscuits with decorative frosting. ❝ So we're gonna make Gingerbread Cookies. It's really easy. I help my mom make 'em sometimes. ❞

       he notices her eyeing the cigarette from the edge of his vision. this can mean one of two things: she’s either judging him or she wants a hit. he’s in enough of a mood that he doesn’t have it in him to feel self-conscious about it, so he extends the cigarette using his long arm, auburn eyebrows lifting in a silent question.
