Expedition Press, Kingston, Washington

On my way out to Ottawa, I planned an extended layover in Seattle. Expedition Press is across the bay in small town of Kingston, and I scheduled a day for a visit. First I took the ferry to Bainbridge Island, where I visited the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art for their exhibition "Artist's Books Chapter Five: Than and Now." Lots of interesting structures on display. 

Expedition Press's lovely proprietor Myrna Keliher picked me up afterwards and drove me across the island to Kingston. We spent the afternoon in the studio, talking shop. Expedition Press is housed in a cosy little studio with some handsome equipment. It's still a young imprint, but Myrna has ambitions to regularly print fine press books of poetry. She also gave me a few of her "anti-masterpieces," small experimental prints that don't need to be perfect. 

I learned about Expedition Press via kickstarter last year when Myrna was raising funds to move into the studio. You can see the good work she's been doing at her website (make sure to check out her blog), as well as follow her tumblr.
