You’re eating on top of the highest building in this area of Colvakia, where windows completely surround you in a dome like space.
From here almost all of Europe and parts of Asia could be seen as the main source of light was the stars.
Xavier enjoyed taking you on dates and he wanted this one to be even more special than the others.
You were currently eating at your hot fudge cake with voices of all the other customers at the establishment as you heard the live classical music die down.
In front of you Xavier stood and cleared his throat, and more audibly cleared his throat when not everyone quieted down. With a single glare to one of the guards by the wall the guard went to one especially noisy table and effectively shut them up.
With his smile back on his face and one last clearing of throat Xavier grabbed your hands in his and let his emerald eyes look into your own.
A genuine smile stretched even more on his lips as he talked in a tone he almost always saved for you, but this time decided to project it to the world.
“My darling (y/n), as you know we are both now 18, and with each day passing by it seems my pure adoration for you grows and grows. I know it has practically been decided at this point, but I wish to make it official, dearest.”
Pulling one hand out of your grasp he reached over to a ‘small’ velvet box that was set on a golden tray that was held by one of the servants he brought along with you.
His manicured hands securelly grasped the box without breaking eye contact.
With a quick flick upwards the box was opened and the item inside shined lights all over the roof and walls of the restaurant.
A large diamond was held up by gold that was manipulated in multiple sheets to look like the diamond was in the center of a rose. Around the rest of the ring gold was twisted and carved to look like vines surrounded the ring and sprouting from said gold vines were more, smaller roses with diamonds placed in the center of the other flowers as well.
You could not help the audible gasp that left your lips as you stared at such an expensive looking piece of ice.
It seems like you weren’t the only one gasping as it seemed all that ate alongside with you let out their very own audible gasps.
Xavier’s gentle smile seemed to grow even more as he slipped the ring onto your finger before lifting your hands to his lips.
“You, my darling, darling princess have the honor to be not only my bride but in time will rule Colvakia alongside me.”
Once his grip loosened you pulled back your hand and stared in awe and horror at the large piece of jewelry. You were so distracted that you didn’t even blink at the sudden flashes of lights and screams of questions directed towards you.
“X-Xavier, I-I can-“
Xavier’s happy and love struck eyes splinted downwards as his gaze turned to one of his guards speaking to one of the waiters that worked at the establishment.
That shut you up quickly.
His smile and happy look returned to his face as he placed his head on his hand and let out a content sigh.
“Oh, words can not describe how joyous I am.”
Your eyes widened in terror at his lovestruck expression and would’ve pulled up if it wasn’t for the hand gripping yours.
“Vell, I suppose if you’re finished ve can leave since it’s already paid for. Finished, dahling?”
You gulped down some saliva as you felt what seemed like the whole country’s eyes were on you. All you gave was a nod which made Xavier give you a soft smile before he stood up while still holding onto your hands.
You started to walk out of the restaurant with screams of congratulations echoin behind you as you stepped inside the elevator in silence.
You felt his nails massaging your hand as he stared at the large piece of rose gold.
“I am so very ecstatic for our engagement. Since it’s official it will be even harder for anyone to take you away from me. Isn’t that just vondevah?”
“Um, yes, I suppose your highness-“
You could feel Xavier’s icy glare on you as you called him such a title.
“Dear, I’ve told you, it’s Xavier. Ve are engaged now, no need for such formalities.”
“Oh, um yes, m- Xavier.”
Xavier’s face brightened up once again as he spoke in his now regular cheery tone.
“Vhen ve get come I vant you to go straight to bed. I’m afraid that ve vill have some long, busy days ahead of us for preparations for both our wedding AND our coronations. It is going to be quite hectic for a while.”
Xavier let out an already exhausted sigh as the doors let out a ‘ding’ before sliding open. He stepped out with you dragging behind before he turned around to face you.
“Oh, (y/n), I apologize about the spotlight that is going to be forced onto you. I’m afraid that photo shoots are going to become much more of a common thing from now. The whole world has their eyes on you now, after all.”
