Before we headed off to Machu Picchu, we took the morning to explore #Ollantaytambo. My favorite ruins were the #Pinkuylluna Incan Storehouses. (You can see them up in the steep hillside in pics 1 & 2.) My glee was palpable as we got to scamper inside and all around them. But it also gave us a great view of the terraces across the valley. Our @experiencemlp guide told us that there’s a theory that the terraces were built in the shape of a llama. Day 5 of our @experiencemlp trek to Machu Picchu, we took a 6 hour hike. 1. That’s @whatsmikeeatingnow with the lake we’d be eating lunch next to in the background. 2. This 11 year old boy and his horse helped us out today. 3. Our lakeside lunch spot. 4. The best quinoa soup I’ve ever had. 5. Day 2 of our trek to Machu Picchu we hiked up and then down into the Pisac ruins. 1. you can see Pisac ruins if you zoom in on the first photo. 2. Berta and our two helpful donkeys. 3. The Pisac ruins from afar. 4. Mike crossing the bridge to the ruins. 5. Incan bodies were buried in these cliffs, and the holes are from being ransacked. 6. My happiness is directly influenced by how much Incan ruins have been left un-touched + how few people are around. 7. The hike continued through some tight spots. 8. More ruins! 9. First day of our trek to Machu Picchu! 1 & 2: We start our downhill hike past some Incan ruins (always expressive) 3 & 4: We stop to get a lesson about #Peruvian weaving and yarn dying techniques. 5.
