I am looking at synthetic cork and its’ affect it has on its’ surrounding environments. the first environment I chose is the ocean. 

I am thinking about animals within the ocean, oxygen, food, colour, movement, feeling and the first image I created...well rather in the process of creating is called Oceanic beast. This image portrays see animals that are consumed by rubbish such as cork. the blue marks are made from cork textures and the circular forms are cork scans.

this is far from done, but thought about showing int anyway

This is some experimentation i did for the wrist band of the festivals. I plan to create a few options just incase they need a few to cover each category for example vip!

Here is my Pinterest Board for Vanity Fair Act 2. Here I have changed the colour scheme from pastel and light to a much darker and richer colour palette to show that things have changed. The Battle of Waterloo has happened, Amelia left a Widow and things start to get much more tougher or at least more complicated especially for Becky and Amelia. They realise life isn’t as easy and plain sailing as they had thought when they were younger. I also felt that the richer colour scheme seemed more mature. This change in colour scheme could help suggest the passing of time.

A deep colour scheme would also work really well for the India scenes and moments where Becky’s wealth grows (golds, reds). Red also is a very powerful colour and would suggest themes of seduction, lust for money and control which Becky embodies. She comes into her own and the use of strong bold colour could help express this.

Ideas so far:

- Rich reds, deep blues and greens, black, gold - Lace - maybe black lace rather than white to contrast Act 1 even more. - Beauty - Maturity - Mourning - War - The Battle of Waterloo, Survival of the fittest, Poverty, battle between families - Lies, Seduction, Wealth - Change of Circumstances - Change of Fortune - Winning and Loosing

Another Pinterest Board:

I also started to consider colour scheme. I thought pastel, light and traditional shades would work well for Act 1 seeing as the characters are young and naive about life ahead. The play starts of quite light hearted and easy going for the characters until we reach Brussels and the Battle of Waterloo.

My ideas so far for Costumes:

- Lace - Ribbon - Pastel light shades - Baby Pink, Mint Green, Baby Blue, Lilac, White and Cream - Doll like - Pretty and elegant - In the Prime of Youth - Light and Floaty Feel - Dream like

Here is another Pinterest Board that I have created over the past few weeks. I Consider this board to be my starting point. I based it around some of the key words/themes the director asked us to consider when designing. These were:

- Puppets - Cracked Mirrors

I also feel the themes of beauty, excess, wealth, dolls, strings, control etc are also shown which are all relevant themes found in the storyline of Vanity Fair.

This week I planned to gather more inspirational images and research in order to create mood boards and generate ideas for my final designs. I decided to set up a Pinterest account as I had never used it before and heard many of my fellow peers rave about how useful it was during their projects. I too found it very useful and interesting to look at for inspirations and ideas. I am sure I will continue to use it through future projects.
