This happened 5 years ago and I still remember it like it was yesterday. My brother and I were already seasoned speakers and coaches, but we needed more skills, so we attended an #expertsacademy event. back then the 2000 dollar fee sounded like a million dollars, so we went into debt just to pay for that, plus the flight ticket, hotel, and food, but luckily I dont eat a lot (sarcasm). That was the first time we went to a @brendonburchard s event, so I didn't know that the guy gives ten times what you pay for, and also, that time he had 3 guest speakers. Frank Kern, Jeff Walker (who changed my sisters story years later) and Mary Morrissey. I knew the first 2, but that was the first time I heard about her. I fell in love with her talk, but when we went out for lunch there were probably 400 people waiting to take a picture with her. We wanted one too, but not as much as I wanted to eat. To our surprise, when we came back there was only this girl with Mary, and a guy that told us to step away because she was leaving, but we didnt, and I decided to take a yellow card board I bought a day before and open it in front of her. We were amateurs in all the online marketing So the cardboard was a simple, yet powerful way to stand out and to network. (The cardboard said, sale, mexican hugs in exchange for your business card). And the funniest thing is that out of the blue (whoever knows Mary knows what I mean witb out of the blue) Mary appears right in between us and not only did she take a pic, but she took her own cellphone to get one herself with the mexican brothers. She gave us a hug, and i was insolent enough to demand a business card, which was the price stated on the sign. She then gave us one each, but here comes the funniest part. I gave her mine as well, and when she turned it backwards, she read the title of a video I had just shot for Brendons contest. 8 powerful strategies to overcome tragedy...steps i took to survive a mexican prison. When she read that, she took her card from my fingers. Brave spiritual leaser, i thought. But it was quite the oppositr. she took it to write down her cellphone down, and so many great things happened after that event. (en Silicon Valley)
