When I was about 10, the babysitter put me in time out in my room once. To be fair, I completely and totally deserved this (we kinda locked her out of the house for awhile...), but she didn't really know that "stay in your room" wasn't really a punishment either.

So there I am, looking at all my books, and games, and toys, but I'm supposed to be being punished, so I don't pick any of them up. And I'm annoyed that I'm in trouble, and even more annoyed because I deserved it, so I sit down facing the closed door and proceed to kick the door. For the next. Thirty. Minutes. Just THUMP. THUMP. THUMP, every second or so.

I just wanted her to be as annoyed as I was.

It must've worked. We didn't have anymore babysitters after that.
