All Night 'Venture
So Saturday night my friends decided to do an all night adventure in NYC in 20 degree weather. The following documents what occurred.
Our trip
We started off in Columbus Circle (59th and 8th Ave), at around 7pm.
We then wandered for a bit in central park, came out the other side. We then went to FAO Schwartz were this happened:
We then wandered a bit downtown and found the second most amazing street in nyc, 6 1/2 Ave. The first will be mentioned later.
We walked bit more west so we wouldn't hit Times Square and found a place with the most AMAZING pastrami sandwich ever. IT WAS JUST A HUGE STACK OF MEAT. IT WAS DELICIOUS. Unfortunately I don't have a picture of it because I was too busy eating. We then wandered over to 8th avenue and stared walking down. We passed by Madison Square Garden where a hockey game had just let out and the streets were crowed with Rangers fans. We eventually got down to 14th street and went back to 7th Ave to find this AWESOME 24 hour donut place. It was so cosy and warm. I didn't want to leave. But this is where Dolan met up with us. We decided to wander down 7th into the West Village where we happened upon a Waffles and Dinges truck! Dolan was very excited. We had a really nice conversation with one of the workers. He was very hipster. We then passed by a lot of restaurants once of which was called Gourmet Garage that I mistakenly read as Gourmet Garbage. At this point I was done.
We passed by a really gay ice cream place. I'm not being mean. It was actually gay.
We wandered farther down to around the world trade center. By this point we were all freezing. We couldn't feel fingers, toes, legs. It was cold.
We found a pizza place to warm up even though I swear the place was colder than it was outside. By then it was past midnight and we had no idea where to go. All the shops had closed and almost everything tat wasn't closed, was 21+. We stayed in the pizza place for a good hour before picking up and leaving. We didn't know where we were going but somehow ended up going to the Staten Island Ferry.
Along the way we saw this funny store.
The ferry only leaves every hour and we had gotten to the station/dock place at 2ish so we had to wait until 2:30. In the station we saw this guy and for some reason they wanted to find out his name, so they "discretely" tried out a few names. We thought he might have been a David or Dave. Turns out his name is John. Or at least we're pretty sure it is. Which is so weird cause one of my friends with us on the venture was named John! The guy kept on moving away from us after we found out his name though. We creeped him out. Oh and also we saw a guy who looked a lot like Kevin Baird from Two Door Cinema Club. It was cray.
We took the ferry from Manhattan, to Staten Island, back to Manhattan, back to Staten Island, missed the ferry, had to wait an hour in the station, met some odd people, and took the ferry back to Manhattan. Each ride is about a half hour so we ended up getting back to Manhattan the last time at around 5am. Why? Because it was warm and we had time to kill and there was nothing else open. It was fun though! The ferry ride is nice. Not much to do in Staten Island but then again we didn't go outside of the terminal. But the people there at 4 in the morning are crazy. I think someone was snorting drugs. And this other guy kept dancing, which was okay I guess, but still odd. Probably never going to Staten Island again. Ever.
Once we got back to Manhattan we made our way up to the Brooklyn Bridge.
On the way there we found a door just lying on the floor. So Catherine and John decided to pick it up. Cat wrote out the lyrics to some song by The Mighty Boosh. I don't know why.
We ended up leaving it up against some store.
Then we found THE BEST SREET IN NYC. JOHN STREET!! So obviously we had to take a picture of John with it.
We eventually got to the bridge and started to climb. It's under construction so there was a lot of graffiti on the boards. And the fact that it's nyc so there's always gonna be a lot of graffiti. Here's my favorites:
We then got to the part of the bridge where you can actually SEE and wow. It was amazing. These pictures are shit. It was around 6:30 so the sun was just starting to rise above Brooklyn.
Once we'd finally gotten across the bridge it was pretty light out and we were done. We just wanted to find a diner and eat some pancakes. After wandering for a bit without the help of Siri we asked a guy on the street where the nearest diner was and he told us how to get to Juniors. THAT PLACE IS HEAVEN ON EARTH. THEY GIVE YOU JUICE AND HOT CHOCOLATE AND DANISHES AND OHMYGOD ITS AMAZING. And other than Dolan, none of us could finish our food. I think I feel asleep at some point. But yeah LOOK AT IT:
Once we finished, none of us wanted to go back outside but luckily the train station was right across the street! I got home in an hour, too a shower and went straight to bed for 8 hours.
