Kalena’s Polynesian Ohana is home of one of the world-reknown Samoan fire knife dance champion. They have competed and placed in multiple Samoan Fire Knife Dance Competitions in the Islands and world-wide. The Ohana performs songs and dances from the islands of Hawaii, Tahiti, New Zealand and Samoa and are known for their exciting Samoan Fire Knife Dancing.
The group originated in Waialua, Hawaii in 1986 and the dancers were known as the World Pacific Dancers in the 1988 “Wave of the Future” World Pacific Wrestling Show. In 1989 the Ohana moved to Pittsburgh and became the choreographers and cast members of “Hawaii in Pittsburgh” – the show brought in thousands of people from the eastern United States, as well as Canada, bringing memories of the Polynesian Islands to many.
Currently with a Polynesian branch in Orlando and Haleiwa, Kalena’s Polynesian Ohana continue to teach, choreograph, and entertain throughout Hawaii and the mainland.
Come join Kalena’s Polynesian Ohana as they share the beauty of Polynesia through song and dance. Their group provides live band music and drumming and beautiful hula dances with exciting fire knife dances, Tahitian dance and chanting.
