Hey Bathym is it true you’re fed by attention in some way? If so who and what actions feed you the most.
(Author’s Note: This one is pretty long, mainly because I wanted to delve into my head cannon backstory for Bathym, as it relates to the question.)
“Yeah, it’s true, but not in the way you’re thinking.”
“Back in Gehenna, most of the demons that lived there, including me, needed to consume souls in order to stay alive.”
“Some demons enjoyed consuming souls and some demons hated it. Others tried to justify it, saying how we only received souls of the damned from other worlds in Gehenna, and that we were doing those other worlds a favor by eating them.”
“Some demons would invade other worlds and suck the souls right out of living people!”
“And a couple of ‘em refused to consume any souls, and we watched as they slowly withered away…”
“I hated consuming souls. I hated the fact that we had to eat what were once people in order to survive. I hated everyone who enjoyed consuming souls.”
“I… hated myself, as well.”
“I… I’ve only consumed one, just one! And it was the worst feeling of my life. I swore to myself that I’d never do it again.”
“I talked around with the Genennian royal family to see if there was another way to survive, and… I found one.”
“It came from Berith, who was a duke like me. He told me that demons use to survive off of attention alone back in the day, but we couldn’t do it anymore after being banished to Gehenna, because someone tried pretending to be a god and got us all screwed over! *cough, cough, Bael, cough*”
“I prayed that one day I’d be able to leave Gehenna. Heh, can you imagine that? A demon praying? Yeah, I was pretty desperate. But, much to my surprise, my prayers were answered with a bright flash of light one day, and I found myself here!”
“Guess the man upstairs doesn’t hate me as much as I thought!”
“Anyway… the rest is history! I became the Bathym you know and love today! Instead consuming souls, I feed off of the love and adoration of my fans without hurting anyone!”
“The amount of sustenance I get from people depends on the action. If someone take a picture of me and shares it, it’ll give me a little bit. And when a shake hands with and hug some of my fans, it generates a lot more! Physical contact always generates the most sustenance and yes, that includes booty slaps!”
“Hell, even this blog helps with giving me what I need to survive, thanks to people like you!”
“Thanks for listening to my rambling for a bit and thank you so much for being a fan!”
“It really does mean the world to me!”
