Kratos had made it abundantly clear that he should not be snuck up on at any point in time - unless the sneaker wanted a blade to their throats. He’d heard it said that it was impossible to sneak up on him, had even overheard that his senses were too good and that he heard everything.
That was a bare-faced lie. When he was on guard, perhaps it was true there was little that could surprise him. When he wasn’t? Well, he luckily had very good reflexes.
None of that was any good to him here.
He knew Lloyd was nearby, he’d heard the boy rustling. But then Lloyd had been surprisingly still, probably fallen asleep, and while Kratos’ attention had been on the small carving in his hands, the words had slipped out.
And of course, Lloyd was still there, and not sleeping at all.
It was only years of experience that prevented him jumping.
“Oh, Lloyd, I do apologise if I disturbed you.”
