EXTENSION REVIEW: AdBlock
If any of you know me, or have been hanging around this blog at all recently, you know that I am totally in love with Google and everything they do (except for Plus, but that doesn't count because no one uses it). I will defend Google Chrome all the way to the grave. If you use any other browser besides Chrome, go now and install it.
No, I said now.
So, anyway, AdBlock. AdBlock is a free extension for Google Chrome that does exactly what you'd expect it to: it blocks ads. But well. I mean really well.
AdBlock doesn't just put one of those little gray boxes over ads, or silence them, or even just force them to not load. It just flat out gets rid of them. Like magic. Forreal, I have no idea how it does it. But, then again, I don't understand most things about the internet.
The only problem with AdBlock is that occaisionally it just disappears, as in it doesn't work and there is a puzzle piece where the icon should be. However, that may just be my computer, I never really did figure out the source of the problem. There is a solution, though, as there is also AdBlock Plus, which as far as I know is essentially the same thing. It's also free, and to be totally honest I haven't noticed any difference in how they function. Pick whichever one you like best, or both. I don't think there's a difference.
So: say goodbye to those pesky ads! Make your Facebook load faster! Avoid impulse buys from the BSB store! (I say this because it has happened to me.) Enjoy your life free of internet ads. We suffer through plenty of commercialism in our lives without them ruin our sanctuary of weirdness: the interwebs.
