Okay. Everyone keeps talking about their Haunted Hotel HCs. I only have a few(mostly about Abaddon).
The reaction he got from the first demon that visited tells me that he was likely "Invader Zim"d out of hell. Y'know, a 'higher up' or entity similar(after prolonged annoyance/obscurity, perhaps at the hands of Abaddon) decided "Oh-- Yeah! Going to earth to terrorize the living is an Honor! It's Super Easy Too!(just wants 'em gone until further notice) See you later! Of course we'll Send for You!", like he wasn't as admired as he thought he might be amongst them... it'd be funny if it was his mother-in-law's idea too.
If they stay consistent enough w/the timeline they've loosely established(and if the mention wasn't Just for a joke), we'll be expecting a 'real' Priest "in a week". Do with that knowledge what you will, I personally think they'd have to help Abaddon 'fake it' until he goes away or something like that, should that happen at all.
A friend of mine also suggested that while Abaddon freely admits it when he's been terrorizing other's households in the area at odd hours, that info combined with the fact that he thinks his reflection is his clone/doppelganger can leave this possibility a bit 'open'... if ghosts exist, what else does in-universe? Shapeshifters? Mimics? Were-cats? Idk.
I've noticed some users on here talking about "what if he had to share the vessel with the original boy?" as AUs and such. This made me think about what we already have that fits that vibe(the body remembers. the original owner doesn't speak anymore, but the demon can scarcely avoid where the vessel remembers/prefers certain outcomes and material wants), and it doesn't stop at food preferences(yogurt, cereal).
Whenever he's upset but his eyes don't change, I believe that's the vessel remembering a little bit. For instance, when Katherine gets ready to put Abaddon in the trunk of her car, the kid seems to almost Recognize the signs of someone choosing something difficult in the moment, and most memories associated with such an expression might end in discomfort if not neglect/direct harm. He squirmed and even stated he wanted 'to go back to the hotel', something I personally didn't expect him to actively request(thought the place maybe bummed him out a lil, but it's clear from this that it's safer in general, in his opinion at least).
This behavior could be in part explained by past attempts to 'cleanse' the young man. If this Priest hadn't run into any real demons/work before Abaddon(or out of sheer paranoia! the era in question being potentially on the unkind/extreme-side), he'd likely be 'practicing' binding techniques on him, if not simply directly discouraging enthusiastic joy/otherness/boisterousness with exile or punishment. This kid may have been locked up on multiple occasions, all under the guise of 'what's best' for him and children like him. Punishment for being 'tempted too easily' to indulge, to rage, to 'insert sin here', basically.
It's just harder for me to believe that they might've had a decent if not loving and supportive relationship. That's probably just me, everybody feel free to keep going "Oh he must've felt Awful. What if he's been watching all this time and is distraught at how much the lil guy's going through? Oh no", I know some of you really like angst, that's fine. You do you, I just personally think the situation could be/end up different(if it's mentioned more in the show later). That being said I don't Prefer this type of circumstance being the case, I just also recognize it as plausible. After all, it doesn't really have to be 'that deep'...
Also why did Heather ask if she could tell her dad that ghosts are real. I mean, aside from the obvious. Let's hope her father isn't ghost-obsessed and wants to bring a megaphone up to the situation for a bigger audience of enthusiasts once he gets word. It would make for good conflict between Esther and Heather I'll admit, but I hate it when in-universe forces turn a phenomenon like this into a party-trick or novelty. It's tired, been done, and just gross in my opinion.
Plus I get where people are coming from about Esther "crushing" on Heather, but I also think that maybe she's just had such a hard time making 'real' friends in the past, that she really cherishes her as one. Like, yeah, that's something that Can grow into something else over time, but for now I'd actually like it if they stayed friends. That pink-sparkly-eyed scene could've also conveyed "HOLY SHIT IT'S FINALLY HAPPENING! I HAVE A FRIEND! WHO WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND!", and not just 'oh... a Crush? Wha-'. The pink didn't help obviously lmao
Another thing: noticed somebody mentioned Therian Nathan and all I have to add is, Chocolate Lab w/Retriever Tendencies. Yep
