He turns on his other side to face Nero, as he lays down flat on the couch. “Nero...” He slurs, although in a quiet tone. “I’m pretty sure I drank about two dozen regrets away just now, and I’m sure I’ll have a hundred new regrets by tomorrow.” He flopped over again, holding his stomach, and shutting his eyes, resting his head on a pillow, and sighing. “... But you’ll never be one of them.”

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?

Questions About Creating Your OCs

Well, I answered that here, but if I had to add two MORE things I keep in mind, it’d be:

1. Even if this is a demon, this is a nasty demon that other demons don’t like.

2. Torture is a Doppelganger’s bread and butter.

And both of those points also go hand in hand. Demons mostly lust after power, and human blood. Doppelganger doesn’t want either of those things, it puts them at the bottom of the food chain in demonic societies, because they have no motivation or drive to participate in society in any meaningful way. Doppelgangers have no sense of respect or honor, they don’t fight among other demons in a quest for power.

No, they torture, they manipulate, they ruin, and for what? To claim power? No. They just want to get by. They just want a meal and a safe place to live. It makes their actions so unpredictable and it makes them very disliked in the demonic world. The fact that they aren’t after power also keeps them low on the food chain.

They are truly the scum of the underworld.

Not to say they aren’t also hated in the human world, but humanity is largely innocent to the fuckery that is demons, as far as canon goes.

“Ah don’t worry, it isn’t an order or anything I expect you to follow. It’s just a promise that if you don’t beg, I won’t be allowing you to cum.” His voice is so sickly sweet but it drips with a cockiness he doesn’t try to hide. How he enjoys having Nero at his mercy... 

He runs his fingers up the hunter’s torso, tracing over the dips of his muscles. He does not rush, he does not draw back as Nero squirms beneath him.

“I could show you what you’re missing?” He offers and wraps his other hand around his own hard length to stroke himself slowly.

He's not sure what the best way of approaching this is. He'd considered calling. Hell, he'd considered just leaving a text message, but he knows that would just go ignored. Phone calls are easier to brush off. And so... in person it is. "So, um... me and Kyrie," he starts, frowning slightly as he taps the tip of a finger nervously against the bar. "We wanted to invite you to come stay with us. Y'know... for a few days."

They aren’t on the best of terms, Dante is keenly aware of that, but he hasn’t stepped up to try and fix it either. It’s just like him, to push and push people away until they don’t come back; he has to give it to the kid, he’s stubborn. He was expecting some kind of lecture or Nero to tell him off, but being invited over wasn’t on the list. It’s quick, just the way the glass slips a little in his hand until he gets control of it again. “Uh-” He’s staring, shit now he’s not sure what to say really.

“Do you really.... want that?” His voice is quieter than usual, this is a certain type of vulnerability he hasn’t felt in a long time. He’s no good to be around, he knows that. He drinks too much, he’s loud, he’s in everyone’s way- not to mention his frequent enough disappearing acts. “I-I dunno if it’s a good idea. I’m sure you both are busy.” He doesn’t need to fuck up Nero’s life more than he already has.

The toddler beckons Shadow over to the kitchen counter. He knows Mama put the cookie jar up there, but he just can't reach it. "Shadow!!! Come."

She has been watching the child (she is always watching, ever vigilant) and acknowledges the call with a soft purr of acknowledgement before softly padding over to him. This demon is no house cat or domesticated creature yet a measured obedience is shown. If she bends to anyone’s will, it is because she chooses to.

The game is a familiar one; lure of the forbidden and a prize just out of reach. It draws another fond vocalization from her throat at the memory. Whiskered cheek nuzzles against the child’s hand to convey willingness, assurance of understanding. Leaping onto the counter is a simple task – Shadow knows she’s not allowed, but like all cats will defy when it suits her – and the ceramic jar is delicately plucked and held in her maw during the graceful leap to the floor again where she deposits it at Nero’s feet. The little one is happy now, yes?
