What makes Witch a witch? 👀

it’s been A WHILE since I drew her last time, so here are some old sketchbook doodles 🫣

There are many ways to become a magic user in this world, but only few people will get the Witch title. To become one, you need to be a Witch’s apprentice and spend several years learning magic, relevant for your region. The last step would be to renounce your past life and your name (replacing it with the title) in order to serve the world and all living creatures in it.

It’s not a simple verbal oath, and there were instances when people refused to finish their apprenticeship, because during the ritual you would literally lose yourself in order to get a part of a god possess your body, creating a completely new persona. These gods don’t have physical bodies of their own anymore and they can’t influence the word unless they work through someone else’s body. Only a few people outside the Witches circle know about that part, for others they are just an average magic users.

A person of any race and gender can become a Witch. 🤗

Witches don’t live too close to each other and people of that region call them just “the Witch”, but when they all get together sometimes, they use nicknames, usually it’s something like “Witch-From-Name-of-the-city”.

Rent is… kinda a Witch too. 👀 In a way. Unintentionally. 😆 For most of his life he didn’t even knew about their existence (which is normal, they are rare), it just so happened that one day he met one of the gods of the same kind that create Witches, and sometimes they use their abilities through Rent’s body. But just for a little bit, and on rare occasions, so Rent wouldn’t get overwhelmed and fully lose his personality like Witches do.
