sometimes i wonder what it must be like to work at data carddass aikatsu. 

like. baby pirates. what was the thought process behind making three whole brands with prs and everything and getting voice actresses, only to make brief cameos in the anime, to not really have any impact on the arcade game besides being there. 

what are they here for? were they supposed to actually be in the anime and actually matter but aikatsu friends got fucking dropped like a hot iron for aikatsu on parade WHICH DIDNT EVEN NEED TO HAPPEN, WHAT DID YOU THINK. 

like the only reason i think they did aipare when they did was because they thought some huge pretty all friends thing was coming. we must set the benchmark!! we must blow them out of the water!! but like, that’s not what pretty all friends is. 

there are so many other things over aikatsu’s life that make me go ‘who made this decision and what were they smoking and can i have some’ but baby pirates is just. the ur example. the absolute nadir of confusing choices.

Aikatsu twitter posted Hana, Ruli, Q-Pit and Beat’s first premium rare dressiers! We already know from promo stuff that Hana’s dressier is a Fairy type called Aurora Pegasus, and Ruli’s is a Jewel type called Bright Sapphire. We’ve seen the little music symbol that signifies whatever type Beat’s preferred dressiers are, and a little constellation type icon, that seems to maybe be what Ayumi is wearing there? Shes a Sagittarius, and that lil creacher sure has a lot of bow and arrow motifs goin on.

This is a 4 minute intro to Aikatsu Planet, the show. 

And looks like there is going to be some 2D animation in it at well! Yay!

(Also it looks like Shiori is in on Maos secret. Thank god.) 

You get a little more insight on their characters in this one! Kyoukos a major yamato nadeshiko in her meatspace life, Ayumi wants to be the perfect idol, Sala is the one who designs all the dresses (Does she design the dressiers too? Is she their mom/god? They appear to be sentient, as Hana asks Aurora Pegasus to please lend her its power. How does that work? Is she more Meganee than Cosmo?)

I need these burning worldbuilding questions answered, and I can hardly wait until Sunday, January 10th, at 7 AM JST, to have them.

What will they do in AiPla S2?

We are only 5 episodes into season one so this is WAAAY too soon to be thinking about. 

But in past Aikatsu, they had their idols perform in multiple roles. I just realised that the Kii and Kaede version of New Chocolate Case I’ve been listening to is actually, technically, a Yuka solo. 

So, there’s two ways Aikatsu Planet! could go about adding new idols to their roster. 

1. Add members to Starry Planet. (They are already running out of image colors, as both Kahya and Narumi are pink. (Also yes apparently Mao’s actress is not Kaaya, but Kahya) 

2. Have them double up on idol roles. 

BUT HOW WOULD THEY DO TWO IN THIS BRAND NEW LIVE ACTION WORLD, YOU MAY ASK! 

Well, they wouldn’t. They’d do a thing where, like, you all get to be two idols now. If the person being Hana can change, why can’t the person being Hana also be someone else sometime? 

There’s one hitch tho. Kyoko’s guidance was all about teaching Mao to be herself as Hana instead of trying to do what she thinks Meisa would do. If being yourself in AiPla is so important, why would you ever take on another alter ego, as they are supposed to be yourself. 

However, Kyoko also teaches that Aikatsu Planet is about freedom to be whoever you want. Umekoji “Beat” Kyoko said Trans Rights.

 U could be 2 idols, easily. 

But I don’t know. I really do not know. How are they going to pull it off? How are we going to get more than eight? 

I need to know now but I can’t. I can’t know for a long time.

so this is apparently a screenshot from the game. so. there appear to be. three phases of the battle stage. Opening Battle, Main Battle, and Climax Battle. They have 1 dressier For each. 

In the Opening Battle, Ruli has a Level 3 Dressier with a Wing Icon Type (the little blue friend with Diamonds for Ears, and Hana has a Level 5 Rare Dressier With the Constellation Icon Type. It looks like a Very Stylized Scorpio. 

Since her Dressier is a higher level than Ruli`s, the UI has her side all lit up, and a smiley face showing she`s got the superior Clothing Pet. 

In the Main Battle, they both have Level 4 Rare Dressiers, Ruli has a little Maroon Lady with a Gem Icon Type, and Hana has a little Hoodie Hip Hop Friend with a G Clef Icon. 

In The Climax Battle, Ruli now is using the Scorpio Dressier, and Hana is presumably scanning in her piece de resistance, that Unicorn. It`s Premium Rare, is a Wing Icon type like Ruli`s opening piece, and it`s Level Eight, but then, due to some bonuses that have to do with the previous dressier, it becomes level 12, and shit, Hana wins before it even begins I guess.

SO NOW IN THIS SCREENSHOT, they show the Swings. Hana has a level 2 Normal `Fairy` Type Dressier, Im guessing that`s what the wings are, and Ruli has a Normal Level 1 Jewel type Dressier (I`m guessing it`s the same Jewel as she used in the Main Battle Portion in the screenshot above, as the Dressiers themselves have similar designs.

The seconds preceeding this screenshot show the other side of the Swing which appears to have their Pictures on it. These are both PR Dressiers, and they are shown like they have gold foil. The Unicorn is a Fairy Type and the Blue Lady is a Jewel Type. So I guess we have their preferred Dress Types Confirmed???

in my last post i said there would likely be an R version of Love Sagittarius, Q-Pits PR. that is because there is already an R version of Aurora Pegasus and the other two PRs! (they came with the little swing holder keychains). 

R aurora pegasus has a completely different dress!! its still absolutely aurora pegasus, but. not premium. 

also, you can see the difference in detail between the R pastel mix cat sidhe, and the N pastel mint cat sidhe. same basic design, but the rarer one has more details and looks way nicer. 

(this is why glossy peridot is so ugly. glossy ruby was nice but already pretty bare bones, but thats an R, so they had to make it worse for the N version. so.... solid olive green leggings. which i better what i thought they were, which was like. bicycle shorts basically.)

So this is the cast. There are four Seirei School Students, 2 other schoolgirls of indeterminate academic background, and two, like, cool young adult college student types, one of whom is the Hana avatars former owner, Hinata Reisa, who I guess creates a new Aikatsusona named Rose. So some of them (Ruri, Shiori, An, Sara) just go by their real names (although their avatar names are written in katakana as opposed to their civilian hiragana or kanji), others, our main character, Beat, Cupid, and Rose use pseudonyms. Cupids civilian name, Ayumi, is written with Ai for love and Yumi for Bow so, like, love bow. Cupid. Duh. Its probably an open secret. BUT I DONT KNOW!

Their body language and Avatars tell you the basics about their characters. No words needed. Just archetypes. 

So, if normal aikatsu standards still exist on this planet, then Hana, An and  maybe Cupid are Cute, Ruri and maybe Sara is pop, Beat and maybe Shiori are cool and then just Rose is sexy??? Maybe also Sara?????? 

Ofc theres no way of knowing if thats even a thing anymore, but Id wager to guess that theres some kind of typing system because, yknow. Humans really like tribalism, just ask anyone whos ever taken a Hogwarts house quiz. 

Although whats interesting is you see Kyouko and Shioris uniforms? Those are SHORTS

INTRODUCTION 

To the Me I want to be, Mirror In!

To go to the Elite Seirei Private School, totally normal high-schooler Mao Otoha becomes Aikatsu Planets top idol Hana instead of Meisa Hinata, who suddenly deleted (her profile? Hana?)

Now she is thrust into the world of Idol Activites! But the fact that Mao is Hana is a secret from everybody!

The Idealized world of Aikatsu Planet, anyone can become a super cute idol!

When Mao becomes Hana, she can use her Swing to wear a dress with the innate power of (a/her/the) Dressier, and broaden her horizons (?) against her rivals on the hot Battle Stage!

Along with her best friend Shiori Motoya, hardworking model Ruri Tamaki, and her cool senpai Kyouko Umekouji, together they aim to be the real top idol!!
