In episode 53, there’s a huge work on Erwin and Levi’s eyes. We see their iris shake, they look wet and the tears are still about to come out. The distress lines on Levi's face are dramatic and express everything he feels beyond the words he utter. This is the second time that anime is stronger than manga in my opinion.
