In hindsight, Jack should’ve asked the guest inhabiting his body where they were going to meet Conquest before he let Death take control of his body. So he was a little panicked when he was given control of his body back only to find himself in a nice restaurant that he didn’t recognize at all. While he’s never been inside every single restaurant in New York City, he’s pretty sure this one he’s never passed by and look in through the window.
“Okay, uh, Death? W-where are we?” Jack whispered under his breath as he looked at the corner booth he was seated at, immediately noticing the glass of iced tea in front of him and grabbed it. We are currently in Chicago-- “WE’RE WHERE?!”
He felt heat rush to his cheeks seconds after shouting and the brunet glanced around the restaurant to see every worker and patron in the room staring at him like he was crazy. Which, fair, Jack did look like he was talking to himself from their point of view. Quickly he took a sip of the iced tea that Death probably ordered for him and, with his free hand which was out of view from everyone else, he pulled out his cellphone and pressed it to his ear. Just had to act like he’d been on the phone the whole time, easy.
“We’re in Chicago? Are you kidding me right now?” Jack hissed at the Horsemen while setting his glass down, he knew that trying to talk to the other mentally was shot after finding out where he was. “You said we were gonna meet Conquest, you could’ve at least warned me that we’d be leaving New York. Did you teleport me here?”
Calm yourself, young one. The magician couldn’t help but scoff a little and he heard a sigh. Yes, we’re in Chicago because Conquest is here. You didn’t honestly think that the others would be in the same state as you, did you? Jack pressed his lips in a thin line at that and felt a wave of amusement from the old entity. And yes, I used my power to bring us here. Worry not, young one. Conquest should be here soon so it shouldn’t be a long wait.
Jack didn’t roll his eyes but came close to it, Death’s been a lot nicer than he thought they’d be especially with all the questions he’s asked in the past few days. Death always answered them so he wouldn’t be too rude.
“Okay, okay. Just... please warn me next time we hop to a different state?” Jack finally said before making like he was hanging up his phone and set it on the table in front of him. He leaned back his seat and glanced around the restaurant hoping to see Conquest, whoever that was, coming towards them. ‘Uh, how am I suppose to know when Conquest is here?’
You’ll know when you see them. Just great.
