Wolsday

Tell me about what inspirations and influences went into the creation and development of your WoL/OC. Did you have a vision for them in mind when you created them? Or did it take time and experience to figure out who they were? Feel free to go into detail!

When I first made Eynar had so many different ideas but wasn't sure if I could implement them, especially since I was completely new to the game. I decided I wouldn't make any choices until after I'd gotten through at least ARR. I started my journey in Ul'dah as a Pugilist and I really liked the desert feel so I knew I wanted him to be from an arid clime like Ul'dah but wasn't sure I wanted to fit into Ul'dah itself. So I waited again and got kind of lost to the story instead of figuring things out which actually worked out well. Ala Mhigo was definitely when ideas began to come together and I started to really get into Eynar's backstory.

The next thing I worried about was whether or not to make him Trans. I myself am Trans so I wanted to have something that connected me to him and gave me some insight into how he thinks and reacts. Joining a new roleplaying community after the one I came from factored into it a lot and I didn't make a solid decision about that until I got to know people. Mostly Tumblr! Which is how we got to where Eynar is now, Tumblr and everyone here have been wonderful in developing him as a character with the asks and having to think about questions I'd never thought of before. He's still in development of course but I'm sure everyone's characters develop as they go along!

28. What are they likely to do if they have the opportunity, resources, and time to accomplish it? Why?

What a question! Eynar would, firstly, not know what to do with that sort of abundance. After thinking about it for some time he might build a home by hand, maybe with a lot of land, to start really getting into woodworking. He would even start a business in it, making handmade wooden furniture and little figurines. He'd be absolutely content living a quiet life just selling his works to people who pass by his place. Eynar has always wanted to settle into a home and be comfortable, safe, and find a balance in his life. A dream like that is hard to imagine when one lives from one day to the next, but it is why that dream is important too.

Adventurer for Hire : Eynar will do a lot of things to earn a little coin, within his own moral compass that is. So long as it has no ties to the slave trade its up for grabs. As he generally lingers in the rogue category he can do things as stealthily or as openly as any employer might want. Long Lost Family : After becoming a refugee and losing his parents its still very likely that he has aunts, uncles, cousins and the like out there from either side of his parents family trees. He might even have an older sibling or two out there since his mother and father were only married a few short years. Uneducated : Losing both home and family at only two years of age he has no solid education beyond writing/recognizing his own name but generally relies on common sense and shops with picture signs. Since he lives just outside the Ul’dah gates he comes and goes from the city quite often and it could be an opportunity to approach him as he struggles to find a less well emblazoned locale.
