ONE MALE ONE FEMALE INSIDE AN ELEVATOR, what could possibly go wrong? Just like any normal day, Ezra decided to take the elevator to go up a couple of floors — he was already behind on schedule, had a lot of things to do that day, and refused to break a sweat through it all. Besides, elevators were dependable; getting trapped in one was rare, right?
As soon as the doors closed, the events happened one after another. First, all lights went out inside the elevator. Two, the system shut down, and three, followed up with a loud thump, causing him to grab the rails on either side. “Fuck.” He growled under his breath, ready to break open the doors, feeling responsible for the current situation. If only he took the stairs. If only he got to the building earlier. This, wouldn’t have happened. This wouldn’t have happened to the – right. Wasn’t there someone else in the elevator?
“Can you hear me? Everything’s going to be alright. I-I’ll take care of it. Just stay with me here.”
How wonderful, out of all days ___ Aurore was not having the best of days, after all she woke up to her beloved companion and first true friend paralysed on his bird cage. She didn’t even care to eat breakfast before she rushed out of her apartment and towards the veterinary across the street. It was only a false alarm, a little seed stuck in Skye’s throat, but he would have to stay in observation for at least one more day. So, after the scare of her life Aurore thought nothing else could go wrong.
Before she knew it she had walked inside the elevator, her mind everywhere but in the now and then. It wasn’t until she heard the malfunctioning elevator shut down that she realized she was in one. What came next was a blur. She had frozen do to the sudden realization that she was, indeed, in an enclosed area. Her voice was gone and so was her worry, all that was left was a paralysed Aurore. She didn’t know how to react, although all she wanted to do was call for help. Then, a voice next to her made her snap out of it. She stared, wide eyes calling for help.
“I... I...” Her voice came out hushed, almost like if she was gasping for air.
