Firstly, some older ones that have been etched into my fandom experience and basically shaped the way I ship E/R:
Talk revolution to me, baby by truethingsproved - how do you describe this series? I’m pretty sure most E/R shippers have read this already, but it’s one of my absolute favourite College AUs ever, simply because all the characters and relationships are thoroughly fleshed out and explored and their Enjolras and Grantaire are amazing. One of the first E/R College AUs I read when I first entered the fandom :)
pas de deux by astrid_fischer - the ballet dancer AU. Enjolras is a ballet dancer and Grantaire subs as his accompanist one day. Lots of sexual tension ensues and cute pining Grantaire, as well as his friends being unhelpful little shits. Hot, hot dancer Enjolras and Grantaire who gets caught painting him and trying to explain that he’s not some weirdo stalker.
Novelesque Diary by Ryssabeth - Enjolras and Grantaire meet through the notes that Grantaire leaves in the margins of the books he reads. Enjolras finds them a fascinating insight into the inner workings of Grantaire's brain and wants to get to know him more.
All I Have Known by Whimsical_in_the_Brainpan - deals with bullying, self-esteem, abuse, homophobia and a whole range of issues. Grantaire and Eponine join the Amis, who are super supportive as they're forced to face the issues they had run away from in the first place. Incredibly slow-build Enjolras/Grantaire, but so, so worth it.
these things take time by sonhoedesrazao - Enjolras offers to help Grantaire by keeping him company while he tries to overcome his problems with alcohol. They get to know each other better and, although some (a lot) of issues get in the way, they're both on the same page in the end. Features one of the best getting together scenes ever.
A Picture Speaks A Thousand Words by BethXP - Oh! This fic! Grantaire and Courfeyrac have a bet on who can get Enjolras and Combeferre respectively to admit their feelings for them first. C/C is a side-pairing here, it focuses more on E/R and Enjolras' slow realisation of his feelings for Grantaire.
Lay Your Hands On Me by samyazaz - hand kink! Violinist Grantaire! The Amis meet Grantaire, a music student, who is busking in the middle of the quad where they plan to hold their next rally. Enjolras tries to tell him to go away and Grantaire ends up staying for a really long time (yay!).
